IMO he has lost alot of his stuff. He is a semi Gas-can pitcher now..lets teams get runs in bunches then starts pitching ..way different the the nails he used to be IMO

i wouldnt say he is done, but he definetly seems a little more hitable than a couple years ago.

still probably in the top 5 or 10 pitchers in the league.

DONE??
LOL!

The last two years he is 34-8 with a 2.24 ERA.

Last night he gives up 2 ER in 6 innings against a quality hitting team.

Having said that however, I would be very surprised if Pedro did win 19+ games this year even with the offense behind him.

I would anticipate one or two spans during the year where he shuts it down for 2+ weeks or more and this will cost him wins.

maybe he's slowing down due to carrying the "BAMBINO" on his back.

Last night Pedro got lucky. The O's ran themselves out of a big inning early and Pedro got away with mistakes all night long.

He was only throwing between 87 and 91 mph on the radar gun.

Of course the same gun had S.Ponson throwing 93-96 and R.Lopez throwing 91 mph changeups....

More troubling than the 10 mph Pedro seems to have lost on his fastball is the lack of location he pitched with last night and all through spring training.

Pedro still has three average pitchs and he knows how to use them. Combine that with the respect he still gets from the umpires and his loss of velocity won't make that much of a difference if he can regain his ability to hit the corners.

the red sox have a much improved pen. they don't need pedro to pitch 8-9 innings to get a win.

if he pitches 6-7 strong innings they can
( most of the time) get it done after that with a combo of timlin, williamson, embree & foulke.

he does seem to have lost a step, but with a very good pen and a very good offense, he is going to be all right.

He may not have been as sharp because the temperature was in the 20`s last night for starters...who knows what the windchill was, but it was gusting up to 40 mph..

There is no way you can make any kind of judgement from that start...The thing I have always noticed with Pedro, when he loses focus he can look very average, but he battled out of one helluva jam, and ended up keeping his team in it...

The guy has been on his own level for so long, its easy to say he might have lost something, how long could he remain almost unhittable , but him losing something off his best compared to everyone else he is still great!

Javi Lopez did something no other righthanded batter did ALL OF LAST YEAR! Take Pedro DEEP! He will be just fine, he does seem to be heavier, unless its just his afro, but to me he looked a bit chunky...

I'm looking to go against him (and others ) for nice + money, whenever reasonable. I maintain the value was on Halladay today, loser, but I say right side.

Halladay has had some slow starts in the past, although he wasn't bad in defeat today. imo. getting the reigning Cy Young winner plus 50 cents is always worth a look. Watch for Roy to win a game soon, then follow until he loses, the guy is very streaky.

You are a sick kid sick. The only thing he has lost is his old hairstylist.

I tried that streaky philosophy last year with Washburn (who streaked all of 02 for me) it never happened, the guy killed me last year after winning me big the year before, same with Philadelphia`s Wolf...I have always tried to play streak pitchers...I will be on Roy til he loses, once he wins.

Halladay wins - lets see how far he goes before he loses.

Sportsline.

DETROIT -- Cy Young winner Roy Halladay pitched a shutout for his first win of the season, leading the Toronto Blue Jays over the Detroit Tigers 11-0 Thursday.

Halladay (1-2) allowed eight hits, walked one and struck out five. He also started out 1-2 last season before finishing with a 22-7 record.

Last Sept. 6, Halladay pitched a 10-inning shutout against Detroit in a 1-0 victory. That was the first extra-inning shutout in the majors since Jack Morris did it in Game 7 of the 1991 World Series in Minnesota's 1-0 win over Atlanta.

Halladay posted his first April victory since April 4, 2002, against Minnesota.

Jason Johnson (1-2) took the loss, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk in four innings.

Despite the defeat, the Tigers are still three games over .500 after setting an AL record with 119 losses last season.

Detroit is done with the Blue Jays this year, going 4-2 against them. The Tigers won the season series against Toronto for the first time since 1995.

Toronto broke open a scoreless game with three runs in the third. Reed Johnson led off with a single and scored on Frank Catalanotto's double, which extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Vernon Wells followed with an RBI single, taking second on the throw home. He moved up on Josh Phelps' infield single and scored on Eric Hinske's sacrifice fly.

Detroit didn't get a runner into scoring position against Halladay until the fifth inning, when it loaded the bases with one out on two singles and a walk.

Even though Ivan Rodriguez is 10-for-18 against Halladay, he did not start and Tigers manager Alan Trammell chose to let Brandon Inge (0-for-11 vs. Halladay) hit. He grounded into an inning-ending double play.

Toronto put the game away with five runs in the seventh. Johnson led off the inning with a bunt single, and moved to third on Wells' one-out double. Gary Knotts intentionally walked Carlos Delgado to load the bases, and Phelps followed with a two-run single.

Hinske walked to reload the bases and Kevin Cash made it 6-0 with an RBI single before Knotts forced in a seventh run when he walked Orlando Hudson. Esteban Yan replaced Knotts and allowed Chris Woodward's sacrifice fly.

Toronto added three runs in the ninth on a two-run homer by Cash and a RBI double by Woodward
