I was really excited for it when I saw the preview, but I've heard very little about it.

No spoilers please, just curious if you liked it...

I saw it day after Christmas with my mom. Its a good movie. I would think it would be hard to make a movie solely based on the mortgage industry, but they made it work. It's funny and interesting so your not bored with all the mortgage crap. It's amazing how crooked banks are. It's about 2 1/2 hours, but didn't feel like it.

loved the book, liked the movie. highlighted some of the wrong characters and felt like they just jammed marisa tomei in there to have a female presence despite adding nothing to the actual move (or book).

could have been a fantastic film but was only good, not great. saw lewis interviewed and he said they did a very good job with the character development and makeup (bale and carrell in particular looked and acted exactly like the real guys) but seemed to be, like me, a little lukewarm on the overall movie. I loved how Moneyball stayed true to the book and highlighted Pitt's character's personal life without taking away from the story...here, it just sort of jumped all over the place and you never knew what character would get highlighted next where the book flowed really well despite telling 4 different stories

my wife didn't read the book and loved the movie so it was probably my heightened expectations that sour me a bit

Read the book, very good, quick read. Will wait for it to hit Redbox, from reviews I have read, they really "dumbed down" the material so that the average joe could understand.

Margin Call is a better movie if you are interested in the financial crisis.

I read the book and saw the movie. Thought the book was a little better..bale and Carroll were both excellent like others mentioned. Thought the movie was a little over the top trying to dumb down stuff for the average Joe when imo it really isn't that complicated.

really paints a picture of corruption and recklessness of fed, banks, lenders, etc
