Just thinking, anyone made money long term playing bj online? Seems like it could easily be rigged.

It doesn't need to be rigged. The math in blackjack is slightly in favor of the house. Play long enough and it's impossible to win. In a live casino that house edge can be minimized or even reversed by card-counting (although countermeasures have come close to killing that), but in a virtual casino each hand begins with a freshly shuffled deck.

They're not rigged, they just have math on their side. All casino games are created in such a way that the house has a (usually) small statistical edge that will allow them over time to grind money out of the player.

Think about a roulette wheel as an example. Betting red or black pays 1:1 so it seems like a no-lose situation for a long-term player...until you consider those two green zeros on the wheel. Because those are losers for both red and black it means a player betting red or black has slightly less than a 50/50 chance on each spin of the wheel.

That's the real beauty of table games, as far as casinos are concerned: They don't NEED to be rigged. Without any kind of external factor to change the odds, statistics guarantee that a player will lose money if they play long enough.

Math is a cruel bitch. It can sometimes be bested in the short term, but it'll win every time in the long run.

You already know that in the long run it's a losing proposition, but there's no way to predict what will happen in any short span, and that could just as easily be 15 minutes or 15 hours. You could win way more than normal or lose way more than normal.

It's OK to play, just play for fun. Have a good time but don't lose any more than you can afford. Online casinos aren't something where a person can make money in the long term. There is no strategy or system than can beat mathematics over thousands of hands.

The biggest problem is that unlike a landbased casino, when you start playing on your computer you can access it 24/7 so be careful. That is why they call it crackjack. God forbid you win because then you want to go back in and play a little more. What used to happen to me was late at night on a weekend I would go in there drunk and blow my sports money. I have blocked access at all of my books to avoid the temptation.

On bodog about 7 years ago I turned 1400 into exactly 20k within tqo days plqaying b lackjack... I had my lucky day - and I blew it. Because I couldn't cash out immediatly, I went back (even after having my girlfriend password protect the computer) and lost it all. My thinking was that 20k was a car but 60k would be a house... point being that I went through the perfect 2 days of online blackjack and. I still fucked it up with less than 4hrs of stupidity.

As above posters said, playing online blackjack isn't smart. If you're an expert blackjack player the house edge is around 0.5%. Either way, it's very possible these online casinos are indeed rigged to an extent. It would be almost impossible for them to get caught if they programmed another 1-4% advantage for them, or gave them a higher probablity of winning when you up your ante. Even if they did get "caught" somehow, do most online casinos even claim to offer real casino odds?

If you're going to play casino games, at least go to a casino.
