Has anyone ever tried dna testing ? Like 23and Me or DNA Ancestry ?

I'm going to have to do this just to satisfy my curiosity and see if what my parents fed me to believe is genuine.

I have no doubt that my ancestry is of Eurpean nature, I can't possibly be of native American heritage, no way that is possible, I highly doubt African or Asian roots, of any kind

It would be cool to see how close the results jive with what I was brought up to accept as fact.

My grandmothers we're definitely foreign born, grandfathers dead before I was born.

I just hope I don't get shocked by the results ! I'm pretty confident it will come up almost Western Europian in nature

I've waited this long to get the info, a few more weeks won't matter, I just hope nothing shocking comes back !

I'm quite confident it will show up as having roots in places like Poland, Austria,etc.

There is no way I'm African, Asian, native American,etc, especially native American, that's impossible

I'll do this just out of curiosity. I have to consider their results to be pretty accurate.

My father who was adopted gave my sister permission to have his dna tested . He took a swab mailed it in for her. This a few years back. She was able to find his real name and siblings. About 6 months ago he got a random email from his son he didn’t know he had. He married my mom in June of 67. Prior to going to Vietnam he lived in New Orleans. Dated this women for some time left and had no idea. My half brother I just found out about is 53 a pilot for fedex.i been communicating with him for about a month. Scary thing he looks just like my dad . My father never really opened up in conversation about being adopted and this was a real eye opener for him. All those years thinking your abandoned and then to find out that you to are capable of the same thing. My dad did not have to communicate with his other son but felt it was an obligation. Totally humbling experience for him and maybe put life into a simpler perspective. My mom been way open to it. I look forward to meeting my brother but honestly I had no idea.

If you're curious about this sending them your DNA is the only way it can be done, it seems pretty legit to me. The results they obtain seem right on, I'm sure it's been tested many times.

I'd not give up DNA to govt agencies like the Police out of principle, they have enough info already !
I don't see what a private company could do with your DNA, it's not like they could steal your identity or something with it

Lou, You're right and I'm as well on various points.

This DNA technology is potent.
After looking into it further, this data is most valuable to our Commie govt and they can supeona this stuff from private companies that have what they want, so you are in effect giving that info to the bad guys as they will just steal it from you at will
If they're trying to prove a case against a Walter Rdgar Rivera, but some DNA would really help the persecutioners, they will force these companies to give it up , if they even have it, if not they'll settle for what they can get from close blood relatives with similar DNA.
However if you want to find out your ancestry you have to give them ( the research company ) this info. It's a conundrum. All I know is what my parents told me which is little. They told me I was Protestant as a child, but we never went to church.
I knew religion was all a crock of shit by age 13. I called myself an agnostic until about 30, then got honest with myself and called myself an Atheist.
The fact remains that you've got to give the company that cheek Swab or whatever if you want the data they show from that sample.

I'd like to see what they come up with and I'm not planning on murdering or raping anyone in my old age !
