I am the king of back problems.

Here's some suggestions for you guys.

1. Stretch a TON.

2. Make sure that you're really well hydrated.

3. Try an inversion table but be very careful. If you have weak abs you can get stuck upside down and that can be lethal. Another problem is that if you have multiple issues, the odd feeling of being 3/4 upside down can cause you to tense up which can create a horrible muscle spasm.

4. Try physical therapy. They will suggest some very ridiculous core strengthening exercises but they work.

5. If you hurt badly in the morning worse than any other time in the day, try sleeping on a different bed. Sometimes hard is good, sometimes soft is good. I forked out 4k for a tempurpedic and loved how i slept but id wake up feeling almost paralyzed. It was TOO supportive. Now im back to a pillowtop mattress and it's much better. Each person is affected differently depending on what type of issue they have.

6. Stretch MORE! Especially if your hamstrings are tight. I noticed that when my hammies loosened up it helped my back feel better.

7. Try 5 different chiropractors. I've seen 20 in my life and they're all different. This won't work for everybody but I've had one or two that were REALLY good. Find one that will stretch you for 5 minutes before he does a low back adjustment. Dont ever get adjustments face down. Have them lay you on your side, knee up as high as it can go. This is a great way to adjust low back issues that may be causing you issues.

These things have all helped me at times. Hydrocone helps to take the pain away, but makes me retarded.

I then tried a combo of cyclobenzaprine which I believe is a muscle relaxer (non narcotic I believe) and a pain killer that I can't recall at the moment.

Weight control will help your issues too. I'd bet that 3/4 of the guys on here complaining about pain are fat asses.

I weigh 410 so I'm allowed to say that LOL. I've got a defensive lineman build but am in my late thirties and all that muscle mass is starting to soften up and i'm getting some Moobs lol. Dropping down to 225 would probably make a word of difference.
I'm gonna do it. I suggest you do too. Living with pain will really wear on you not just physically, but mentally and even moreso. I've had these issues badly for about 12 years now and I've had it. There's been a few times it gets so bad that I wished i was dead lol.

I've heard nightmares about surgery (maybe 1 in 15 guys had it work for them) and the steroids are not good for you and only mask the pain for up to a year.

I went in to get counseled for the back shot. I asked the doc "Is there ANY chance I could get paralyzed from this shot?". He said yes, but minescule. NO THANKS Doc.

Good luck to you fellas. Weight control mixed with a bunch of the above will really make a huge difference.

Stop getting your food through a window. That's another thing that will help.
