So you must be doubling with a hard 12 or higher to bust out then ?

You should never bust on a double down.
I love doubling down on hard 12's... i know its not considered smart in blackjack but i mean its a risk that usually pays off for me. of course 10-11 is the ideal time to double down but damn like its just funny how it always happens, never can seem to get a good result doubling down online

If you double on 12, don't complain if you lose ! There is no way this is a move that should win

it works often... i dont do it often, but i like doing it once in a while. you get a 7-9 and your solid. it happens more than you think. but were getting away from the point here. doubling down online is almost always a losing cause... you get 11 and you draw a 3-4, you get 10 and you draw a 5. no luck, it has to be somewhat rigged

I'll agree that online is often rigged.

Doubling on 12 with a single deck ( say in a land casino)....

16/52 cards bust your hand

16/52 cards give you a stiff hand of 16 or less

5-9 ( 20 cards) make a hand, but you really don't want a 17 or 18.

Any BJ player will tell you not to do this. I assume you only do against maybe a 5 or 6 ?

12 is a bad hand, you don't want twice as much at risk on this hand.

GL with it but nobody here is going to agree with doing this online or in a casino. This isn't a close play like hitting or standing with 16 vs. 10.

lets just say the client admin has some features that are not that favorable to customers...

can the payback %'s be changed by the operator using RTG?
I remember reading that back a few years ago but did not know if it was true
Most of the sportsbooks today use DGS but some use RTG
I remember the RTG's being very streaky

Online blackjack use to take out my entire bankroll when I first started gambling online. TheBigBook & sportsbook.com use to clean me out. Glad that temptation is gone. I use to win 579.00 and want to go to BJ and make it an even 600.00. Well I would make that an even 0.

I agree the doubling down seems like it would backfire 4 out of 5 times. i.e. when you get 10 and the dealer has 5...you double down and get 10 and then the dealer draws 6 cards to get 21.:):)

last time i actually used the interface, was on early 2007... its been a while, but yes there were features to modify payback %s and also, there was a feature to "kill" a winning streak, just like a doomswitch

i remember using playtech too and dont recall seeing anything like that, cant help but wonder if some online poker admins have options like that too...

The software providers used to advertise clearly, so you could just tell by running the casino software. They also used to list all their clients on their web site. So, for example
you could go to realtimegaming.com and see all their clients. This list has now been removed from that web site.

The wizard of odds has a list, but he has stopped updating it:
http://wizardofodds.com/casinos/

Another way is to just contact support for the casino you are playing and ask them who their software provider is.

Back when I was bonus hunting, I could tell just by the look and feel of the software which of the ~10 major software providers the site was using.

Bodog runs realtimegaming software for their casino, and I'd be willing to bet that they run a fair shop, especially since the wizardofodds is one of their
advertisers, and he is one of the few experts out there that evaluate online casinos for their "fairness."

That being said, unless you're playing on a bonus that makes your play +EV, you're looking at a losing proposition.

I don't doubt that it is possible that RTG software allows you to configure it to up the house edge at will. I just think that for most providers, the built-in
house edge is enough to provide them ample positive cash flow.

FULL TILT? I was looking for their type of software & could only find that they use proprietary, what is that & what advantage does FT have if any? Thank you in advance.

It probably means that they hired their own programmers to write their casino software, and that they don't use/license any of the major brands out there. So,
your guess is as good as mine what the actual house edge is on their games.

fulltilt software was developed with the major intervention of one of their main stockholders and also a pro poker player, chris "jesus" ferguson

Early life and education

Ferguson was born in Los Angeles, California.[3] Both Ferguson's parents have doctoral degrees in mathematics and his father, Thomas Ferguson, teaches game theory and theoretical probability at UCLA.[4]
Ferguson attended UCLA where he earned a Ph.D. in computer science (focusing on virtual network algorithms) in 1999 after five years as an undergraduate and 13 years as a graduate student.[5] His Ph.D. advisor was Leonard Kleinrock.[6]

Full Tilt Poker is an online poker card room launched in June 2004 with the involvement of a team of poker professionals, among them Howard Lederer, Phil Ivey, Andy Bloch, Mike Matusow, Jennifer Harman and Chris Ferguson.[1] It is the second largest online poker card room in the world, after PokerStars.[2]
