I past post a bookie when I was 18yrs old. this local bookie had a good setup at his office, he furnished the racing forms, food and drinks. he use to say nobody can past post me. I had a friend that was at the track and another friend that would go to a pay telephone and wait for the call, as soon as he got the call he snuck in the back yard and slid the winning number underneath the screen. so I went to the bathroom and raised the window and snatched the piece of paper with the winning number. another time we all went to the track and we left before the last race. we were all in the bookies Van. behind us was a friend in a car, and he had a cell phone, so when he got the call who won the last race he posted the winning number with a black marker on his windshield. that was along time ago, up to this day he never found out, he knew something wasnt right, but he never knew, true story.

Back in the day, the power to the pay phones used to be killed when the first race started and restored after the last race. It's been a while since I've been at a track--are there any rules regarding to cell phones?

yes, in the past I had taken some shots, but I have learned along the way it is wrong. I also try and advise people the same. A word thrown around here sometimes I will use here. Karma.

i never have. gotta imagine it was "easier" to do years ago then it is now....

i once read a book about the start of ESPN and it said there was a time change of the Padres game and not many people knew about it, so they went up like 9-0 or something in the 1st inning (dont remember the exact details) so a bnch of the ESPN guys called in their bets for alot of money becase their bookies were unaware of the time change and sure enough the team they were playing won 10-9 (the story goes something liek that, but u get the jist)

You are wagering in a country where it is legal.

Pretty simple

We have gone through this a hundred times at the RX.........there is no significant proof that wagering offshore is illegal.

If there were, I wouldnt be doing it.

FEDERAL STATUTE

Title 18 USCS §1084

"(w)hoever being engaged in the business of betting or wagering knowingly uses a wire communication facility for the transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of bets or wagers or information assisting in the pacing of bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest, or for the transmission of a wire communication which entitles the recipient to receive money or credit as a result of bets or wagers, or for information assisting in the pacing of bets or wagers, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both."

The internet uses high speed wire communications technology to connect a network of computer systems. Clearly the use of a computer system to send and receive electronic communications over phone lines is use of a wire communication facility.

It's obvious that Online Gambling would be in violation of the statute.

This is not including local or state laws.

Then, as Fish has stated, why weren't all of the participants who won free seats online to the WSP arrested?

General, I have your answer.. Because the statue clearly states its for sports betting and not casinos or poker sites..

"On November 21, 2002, the US Fifth Circuit Federal Appeals Court upheld Duval's ruling, stating: "The district court concluded that the Wire Act concerns gambling on sporting events or contests... "

online casino sites and poker sites are legal to this day. I have did major studying on this issue. Link Below is actual case.

Kinda hard when they get a warant to search and seize info from your computer/phone taps ect.

im not saying the government is going to come after you for gambling on sports online, (there are several cases pending though)

Im just saying its Illegal

Fish is a well respected poster on the forums that I like to get in conversations with and have posted info back and forth with him via public forums for some time.
