I was wondering? Has one every filed banko and did they pay out before, during or after?

Where would one go to file a complaint/dispute regarding a book? Gaming commission? File a lawsuit?

Pancho, What do Vegas books have to do with wagers to insure funds are available and is this character involved in the offshore industry now?

Not sure what safeguards are in place to insure players don't get ripped off but I belive that if a sportsbook goes tits up, the player is screwed. These are private enterprises after all.

G Austin = tradewinds which by all accounts is very solid.

The fact he is affliated with them would not stop me from playing there.

Its highly unlikely that anyone wouldn't get paid, but Austin's place did go down. I don't think there have been any other cases. Even if a book goes bankrupt that doesn't mean they can't pay out wagers. Businesses file for bankruptcy to get out of normal debts, but the law here basically puts chips and claims from gaming before the loans banks or investors make to the business in general. Now if a casino was so bad off it couldn't even pay out its chips or sports bets that would be pretty crappy, but since a casino is basically forced to keep cash to cover all claims on hand its not going to be a likely event unless you can get away with the "robbery" scenario.

Pancho- I wouldn't bet at Tradewinds with your money. As long as G**y A****n is affiliated with them, you're taking a chance everyday you have money with them.

It took me several months and a couple of calls to the Nevada Gaming comission to get paid by the old Sport of Kings. They did pay me. Every time I called I was told the check was on so and so's desk and they were waiting for it to get signed.
I think books in vegas have to keep a certain amount of money in escrow.

Yeah its called just about all the action they take! There is a formula, but its not revealed to the public. I have heard rumors about how much it is. Lets just say what George Clooney mentioned in Oceans 11 isn't that far from the truth.

I got a friend who says he was not paid winnings from an Indian casino in New York last year. Said he had a great run in blackjack and the Boss accused him of being a card shark & booted him without paying.

Oh God don't make me laugh! To compare getting stiffed by a tribe in New York (where they aren't even allowed real slots except at the new Seneca casino) and a casino in Nevada is crazy. That is like someone asking if Bank of America ever stiffed them out of money and then someone replying yeah, my uncle Vito who runs a bank out of the local pawn shop stiffed me once before. Nevada has regulators, tribes don't. As your buddy found out, if you have an issue with a tribe you have little recourse other than to make a lot of noise about it and hope they don't like bad publicity. If you have a problem with a licensed Nevada operation there is a whole legal system set up to resolve it and the courts don't even play a role in it, its all people strictly dedicated to anything related to licensed gaming in the state.
