That was brutal.

Just saw..... That is baseball! IMO Utley was in the base path 2-3 feet either side of the base? It was how I was taught so I'll read thoughts below but imagine most opinions are from gamblers not players? I've been wrong b4 but it is was it was! Breaking up a DP

When it comes to baseball, I'm as old school as it gets. However, IMO it was a dirty play. Yes, he was within arm's length of the bag at one point, but the issue is how late he slid and how far past the bag he was when he made contact. Just my .02.

I agree that it was perfectly legal, still brutal and dirty though. Utley shouldn't be suspended though. If people don't like it then change the rules like they did with catchers after Posey got hurt.

Fuck no it wasn't legal. He didn't even touch the base or attempt at sliding. He went past the base and didn't even slide. It was a damn tackle.

can go back/forth but I look at it as a player!

In my day it was called breaking up a DP....... Legal 2-3 feet within basepath. oh well

unfortunate other player was hurt but it is part of the risk both took.

if no injury as someone above said would it be a issue?

Part of the game, as I recall, no thought from player other than breaking up DP. How many outs?

Runner on 3rd DP ends inning otherwise? This is what is missing in today's sports!

This is what is called the basics/fundamentals of any game!

Just a thought....... What would you do?

Does a player grab a face mask and make a tackle at 5 yd line as game clock is at :00 b4 guy goes into endzone or does he make a play and accept penalty? Score is tied??
