I'm going to screw something up about the way that this played out, but here's the jist of it.

1/2 NL....both of them had 200-250 in chips

Seat 2 raises to 20 pre-flop, Seat 4 calls

Flop comes K J K, Seat 2 bets 20....Seat 4 calls

Turn is an off suit 7(?) Seat 2 bets 20....Seat 4 calls

River is a K......Seat 2 bets 60, Seat 4 goes all in....Seat 2 calls

Seat 2.....A A for the boat
Seat 4.....K (?-irrelevant card) for quads

Do they have that bad beat thing in vegas? in ac they have this bad beat thing where if you get a bad beat that qualifies then everyone in the poker room gets to split whatever the jackpot is up to. Its usually around 100,000 or something.

Shit, I never even thought about that. This was at the South Point, where they obviously don't-but now that you mention it that might have been worth some serious coin in some other rooms.

Weird-nobody at the table even mentioned it-and I bet that it very well may qualify in a "real" poker room.

With the Jack on the board he would have had to have KQ or AK. Gotta use both the hole cards for the jackpots. In every casino I've been in anyways. Sick though.

Not everyone in the poker room gets money. Its whoever is at the table gets the money. Its divided like this:

Whoever gets the bad beat gets 40% of the jackpot
Whoever gives the bad beat gets 20% of the jackpot
The rest of the table splits whatever money is left evenly.

Anything aces full or better that gets beat qualifies for the jackpot. So that hand wouldn't have qualified because quads beat kings full of aces.

would it really qualify for a bad beat pot though? i mean, the guy flopped trips and was winning the hand the entire time anyways.

That's exactly what I was getting at when I posted this

WTF did he think the guy had? He's either bluffing, has a J(loss) or a K(win).

After thinking about it a while, I thought calling the all in was dumb-but if you're calling bullshit on someone, you're calling bullshit.

Just another example of why to not slow roll those rockets. I can't imagine the guy staying in with a decent sized preflop bet.

Most of the casinos in ac split it with the entire room.

Not one casino in Atlantic City gives money to everyone in the poker room.

1. The Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot shall apply to the game of
Texas Hold’em Only. “Bad Beat” means a High Ranking Poker hand that is beat by a higher ranking hand (i.e.; Aces Full of Jacks losing to 4 of a kind).

2. The winning and losing players must use both of their hole cards to create the highest possible hand. For four of a kind, both the winning and losing player’s hand must contain a pocket pair. The minimum losing Bad Beat Hand will be Aces Full of Jacks and the losing player must have a pair of Aces in their hand. A hand higher than Aces Full of Jacks that gets beat is still eligible for the jackpot (ex: 4 Kings get beat by 4 Aces).

3. A $1.00 maximum amount will be removed from each pot that totals $20.00 or more including the rake. In order for a hand to be eligible for the Bad Beat Payout, the pot must meet the $20.00 minimum. The hand must go to a showdown (played to the end, where all cards have been dealt and players have completed betting and show their cards to determine the winner) in order for a jackpot to be awarded.
i. On a daily basis, for each $1.00 collected, 80% will be added to the Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot and 20% will be held in reserve to replenish the Jackpot when hit. (Seeding of the Jackpot will be recouped at a rate of 10% of daily drop.)

4. Players must play their hands independently. If any player, directly or indirectly involved in the hand, passes information or instructs another on how to act or reveals their hand to other players, the Jackpot may be disqualified.

5. In order to collect any Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot payouts, proper ID will be required. Payouts of the Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot are as follows:
i. 50% of the jackpot will be awarded to the Bad Beat hand (losing player);
ii. 25% of the jackpot will be awarded to the winner of the hand;
iii. 25% of the jackpot will be divided equally and awarded to the remaining seated players on the game where the jackpot hit who meet the eligibility requirements below.

6. A player who removes his or her chips from the game prior to a showdown on a hand where a jackpot is won forfeits his or her right to any prize money.
i. If a player walks away from the game after acting on their hand and leaves their chips on the table, that player will still be eligible for their share of the remaining 25% of the jackpot if a jackpot occurs on that hand only.

7. Winner will be solely responsible for all taxes.

8. Prize won is final. No substitution or transfer of prize permitted.

9. In the rare occurrence of a Bad Beat Jackpot being hit on more than one game at the same time, the total jackpot will be divided by the number of Bad Beat winning games. Then the jackpot will be distributed on each game according to the percentages set forth in rule 5 above.

10. Under all circumstances the decision of the Poker Supervisor is final.

Doesn't look like a bad beat to me. The BB Jackpot at Hard Rock Hollywood (FL) has to be AAAJJ (or better) beaten by a higher set.

Oh, and it's split something like: 50% to the loser, 30% to the winner, 20% to the rest of the table. I've seen it one twice in one night, but usually hits about 1 every 4-5 days (when I played there regularly last year).

Dude i go to ac like 3 or 4 times a year. I have sat at poker tables with the dealers telling us about the bad beat jackpots. Ballys and showboat split with the room. Now some places like trump taj mahal may be different but many in ac split with the entire poker room. Maybe its just the ones connected with harrahs.

DUDE wow you go 3 or 4 times a year??? I go about 3 or 4 times a week. The terms I posted above were from the Taj. I play mostly in the Taj, The Borgata, or Harrahs. The rules below are from Showboat, Harrahs, and Caesars. If Bally's does it another way I wouldn't know because I would never step a foot into Bally's to play cards. Some say the Borgata is the best poker room in the world. I personally like the Taj because I have been going their for much longer, but the Borgata has a great room.

Current Bad Beat Jackpots

Bad Beat Jackpot is paid when a hand of Full House, Aces full of Jacks or better, loses to a bigger hand at showdown. Both of the hole cards of the winning hand and losing hand must be in play. 50% of the jackpot is paid to the loser of the hand, 25% paid to the winner of the hand, and 25% is divided between all other players dealt into that hand.

Well we can argue this forever but i know ballys does. I was in there before and a guy at my table was talking about how he played for like 8 hours then decided to leave and then the jackpot hit. Said he would of won something like 8,000 had he stayed a little longer and that it was split between the room. I would imagine the bigger ones dont because there are to many people.
