I woke up this morning and my eyes about popped out of my head when i saw Indiana St getting 9 points at Wichita St. Indiana St has been playing great lately. winners of 5 straight and were just 8 point dogs at Southern Illinois and won the game straight up easily. They have had 4 players in double figures in 4 straight games, everyone is healthy again and they are playing with confidence both at home and on the road. They are giving Marshall help on offense.

Every Indiana State opponent will devote a page or two in the scouting report to center Jay Tunnell. He is on a 3-point streak that would impress Larry Bird. Tunnell, a Kansan who as had big games against WSU, has made 20 of 31 threes and is averaging 20.3 points in his past five games

I dont not know as much about the MVC as i do say the horizon or Big Ten but I know this Indiana St team. However, once i looked into Wichita st, i saw this team is great at home. They have beaten the best teams in the conference at home by decent margins. They beat Northern Iowa, Illinois St, Creighton and Evansville at home and are on a 7 game home winning streak.

Now I am starting to see where this 9 points in coming from. WSU was able to go into Indiana St and dominate the glass and shut down everyone but Marshall (ISU's best player)

This is also WSU's last home game and you know how that goes. I dont like betting against teams in positions like this.

good analysis...convinced me on staying away..good luck

i would still lean ISU. I would be surprised if they get beat by double figures. But I dont know how much ISU has to play for here.

The bottom 4 in the MVC have the play in games in the tourney. That may be something to try and get out of the bottom 4.

Northern Iowa @ Illinois St

I feel I have a good read no this conference. Both of these teams come off terrible performances in the bracket buster games. But can you blame them, they have to travel across country to play games that do not matter to them in the big picture. Northern iowa is trying to hang on to the MVC title that at one point looked locked up. while Illinois st can get the #1 seed in the conference tourney by winning its last two games.

Why would they wanna go play niagara and Siena at this point in the season. It was also Illinois St's 3rd game in 6 days.

These teams are 1 and 2 in the MVC is PPG and PPG allowed. They can score and they play D. They also are 1 and 2 in margin of victory.

The 3 day rest could be important for ISU. Their best player, Osiris Eldridge, is coming off a three-point scoring game at Niagara, where he shot 1-for-12 from the field, including 0-for-3 from three, and was 1-of-4 from the free throw line. In his last five games, Eldridge is averaging 12.4 points per game, while shooting 34.3 percent from the floor and 20.0 percent from the foul line. Eldridge has shot well at home this season with a 44.4 field goal percentage.

In the Tim Jankovich-era, the Redbirds boast a 12-3 record in games that follow a defeat.

I think ISU wins this game. They are ready to come out and make their run to first place, while Northern Iowa has lost 4 of 5 and 2 in a row on the road.

I am not going that way with my play though. I think these teams know how important this game is. This is the biggest game of the season for both teams. I think the D really steps it up. Niether team has been shotting well, The Panthers relied on the 3-point shot during its 11-game win streak. In five of those games, they made eight or more threes. Defenses finally caught up to the Panthers. UNI is shooting 25.2 percent from 3-point range in its past five games. UNI’s guards are not particularly quick or big. When defenses figures out their sets and work hard to blanket shooters, it works.

I cant see both teams shooting well tonight and I cant see either team allowing open looks.

BYU @ San Diego St

SDST is 11-1 at home this season, with its one loss comign to St Marys by 3 with Mills. SDST is a very good defensive team and they will need that tonight. Through games of Feb. 22, BYU ranked first in the nation in field-goal percentage at 50.6 percent. UCLA (50.3 percent) is the only other team shooting better than 50 percent. Individually, the Cougars are led by Gavin MacGregor (65.4 percent), Chris Miles (62.5), James Anderson (56.5) and Lee Cummard (55.4).

When these teams met prior, BYU shot 56% from the field and won the board battle by 11. SDST only had 6 Offensive rebounds, they average a league best 11.1 on the year.

SDST has been playing great D of late. Holding their last 5 teams to point totals of 49,60,67,34,66. They are second in conference allowing only 62.8 PPG and allow teams to only shoot 43% from the field.

SDST forces an average of 14.4 turnovers per game. They made BYU commit 17 last game at BYU. They lead the league in STL/Game as well. I think SDST athletism and height (4 of 5 starters over 6'5") will give BYU problems.

SDST got the win at home last year by holding BYU to 44% from the field and Wade who has been playing well scored 28.

BYU has come down to earth a bit lately. Losing 4 of 10.

SDST has won the last 5 against BYU at home.
