well not a good thursday. lost 1.66 units, but won my largest bet in St Marys. I was dissapointed in the efforts from both Illinois and Cal on the road, not showing much fight at all. I should have known not to bet Illinois on the road knowing they would get pounded on the glass. But still up over 21 units.

We all love the action filled friday nights.

first leans are butler and penn. need to do more research. Valpo has not shown anyting on the road this year. Basically blown out in every game. I dont see them keeping it close in Butler. But 17 is a tough number to cover in any conference rivalry game.

Valpo @ Butler

This game on paper should not be very close. PPG 67-57,FT% 75-69, every 3 point category,Rebounds per 38-35 all in favor of Butler. Butler has been dominate in Hinkle at times this year. They proved themselves with a 30 point thrashing of conference rival UWM in their last game.

This game reminds a lot of the Iona @ Siena game i played and won last week. Where Iona was a big dog coming into the best team in the conferences home gym. The numbers dont match up but it looks a little like a let down game. Butler has had some of those this year, narrowly escaping at home against lowly Detriot and UAB who is not very good. Valpo is starting to put things together.

Friday games dont have the limelight of the typical saturday games and Valpo has a lot more to play for in this one. They are close to that all important 6 spot that allows a home game in the conference tourney. They have been playing better lately and scoring more. They have talent on this team and they are just waiting on all of them putting it together at the same time.

Valpo starts 3 seniors that hung tough at Butler last year, losing by 8. Butler hasnt beat Valpo by more than 13 since 1995.

If they can rebound in this game they can stay close and may have a chance for an upset. The only way this game gets out of hand is on the glass. Butler is a great shooting team and easily the most talent in the Horizon. However Valpo is the best coached. Coach Drew is going for his 600th win.

Call it a hunch? I dunno, I think this one stays close.

Valpo +17 (2 units -102)

Marist @ Fairfield

According to the connecticut post:

The Stags (12-9, 5-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) will be without three starters -- including star point guard Jonathan Han, who is suspended indefinitely for a violation of team policy -- for their battle with the Red Foxes and for the foreseeable future.

In addition to Han, also missing are sophomore Warren Edney (ankle), who is in a walking cast and is done for the season, and junior center Anthony Johnson, who is also out for the season with an undisclosed medical condition.

The Stags' other starters, junior forward Greg Nero (back) and senior guard Herbie Allen (bruised left hand), are also banged up, but expected to play tonight.

Thats about 33 PPG, 17 RPG, 3 BLK, 2 STL out for this game.

They are expected to fill this void with crawford, jordan and Turner coming off the bench to start. They average a combined 2.6 PPG.

Its not like Marist is a powerhouse by any means but this is a lot to overcome! especially becuase this Marist team can score a little bit. They are 4th in the conference in PPG. While fairfield is last in the conference in OPP FG%. Marist leads the MAAC in 3 pointers made, and 3 point%.

Thanks to ketch for this stat:
Red Foxes are 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings in Fairfield.
Red Foxes are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings.
Road team is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings.

I dunno maybe this Fairfield team rallies at home but I find it hard to beleive.
