big size lab mix, got him when I was 16 or so, so had him for around 13 years now. As I went off to college and afterwards he stayed with my parents, but I got to see him weekly. Past few weeks he had really slowed down and got to the point where he was vomiting daily after eating or drinking, had no energy etc. My parents took him to the vets today while I was at work and they told them he had cancer and it seemed wide spread and were giving him less than 1 month to live. Not knowing how much the dog was suffering, my parents decided to put him down peacefully.

Oh sorry, man. That's tough. I've been there. Looks like a cool dog. You gave him a great life.

Sorry for your loss! I know how you feel....had to do the same thing a few years back to my beloved shepard. Was one of the toughest things I have ever had to do. May you have some solace in knowing that he brought you years of happiness, joy, and loving memories.

I really hate to face that decisions with all my "babies". So far I haven't had to put down any of them and they died on their own. I have two left with Cushings disease and three others with no problem. But each time I lose one it's like stabbing me in the heart! Sorry to hear of your loss! They are all almost 13 years old except for the daddy who is already 13.

That sucks. I always hate thinking about the die my current pets will die. The sad thing is when it happens it just happens suddenly. One day they're fine and next day they're gasping for air.

Hurts to read.

Dogs are absolutely members of the family. You just can't find the unconditional love they give you anywhere else. If they think you're in any real danger, most of them wouldn't hesitate to do whatever it takes to protect you...even if it means giving their life. The last dog I owned died over 10 years ago, and I'd be lying if I said I still don't miss that damn dog every once in a while...

Two of my kids died basically of old age. I buried them in a flower garden on the side of my house.

So now they are still watching over the house.

condolences

we did had to on Valentines Day, 2013

we were asking the vet how would we know the fight is over (he had cancer and was on chemo). She said "you'll know". She was right, there was no doubt in any of our minds based on the previous 36 hours. 14 1/2 years old, playing in the snow 1 day before a sudden turn for the worst
