I've been having a problem with Road Rage for a few months now. People driving too slowly in the passing lane is my real trigger.

Today I was doing about 75-80 mph but was stuck behind a truck. I brove up close to him and flashed my lights to let him know that I wanted to pass. You are not supposed the pass on the right, he should change lanes so I can pass. After several attempts to flash my lights he would not go any faster or change lanes so I passed him on the right. After I passed him I slowed down to like 40 mph to give him a taste of what it feels like. He climbed right on my rear and pumped my brakes once to give him scare.

Next he passes me on the right but he doesn't have a enough speed to get beyond me because I have now accelerated so as to not allow him to pass.

He ended up bumping me at about 70 mphy. I lost control of the car, a little swerve and then regained control.

We both pulled over to the side of the road. There was no damage to his car but my car was dinged up (new 2008 sab 93 convertible).

We sort of marvelled at our coillective stupidity and exchanged information.

It could have ended much worse in a variety of ways.

I'd been noticing this new road rage over the last few months. I've never been like this in the past but I have done some stupid things on the road out of anger the last few months.

I have to relax about it. What a stupid reason this would be to hurt myself or worse someone else?

I'll have file an insurance claim because i have damage to my car. I really instigated the whole matter by climbing on his ass and then passing him abruptly but he is the one who hit my car while he was switiching in to my lane trying to pass me so I believe he bares some fault as well. The car remaining in its own lane must have a certain right of way, right? He came into my lane and hit the car.

I'll write an honest accident report and let the insurance figure it out.

What do you think?

Once you let him get up beside you, he shoulda emptied a 9mm into your car, thereby curing, or at least, putting your roadrage into remission.

I can't edit the post. Of course I meant 'too slowly,' in the first line of the post. . .

Personally, I think it is safer to pass the slowpoke on the right, since this America, and people don't know how to drive right.

I also think it is much safer to jaywalk in the middle of the block, than to cross at a light, esp. in Vegas.

First and foremost: YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON.

Regardless of how this guy is driving or YOUR perceived rules of the road, pass the guy on the right safely, and be on your merry way. Your little temper tantrum could have killed the both of you. What if the guy was packing heat??? What if there were children or whole families involved?

Your insurance company will talk to both parties, so unless the both of you decide to corroborate stories, you will be PHUCKED if you try to lie for potential insurance fraud. If he rear-ended you, his insurance will have to pay, because he was following too closely. What you did prior has nothing to do with the final outcome, however again---if you lie, they can deny the claim as could his company if it comes out that you two were 'racing' which is clearly against the rules of any insurance policy. One note, I am not familiar with the rules of MA. In states like Virginia where it appears you both contributed to the accident, you are BOTH barred from recovery. It may not even be worth it to make an insurance claim, get an estimate written and go from there. If you are both are found at-fault by the insc company, goes on your record, road rage incident/racing will triple your premium tough guy...

PLAIN AND SIMPLE, YOU ARE A PHUCKING TOOL. WAKE UP, SMELL THE COFFEE, PICK SOME FLOWERS---IT JUST AIN'T WORTH IT, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS GOING THROUGH THAT OTHER PERSON'S MIND. IF SOMEONE CUTTING YOU OFF OR DRIVING TOO SLOW IS THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENS TO YOU, GET OVER YOURSELF AND COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS.

:ohno:

You're a pretty angry guy , aren't you? Easy there.

He did not rear-end me and I have no intention of lying on the insurance report. Maybe read the post next time.

Holier than thou is not a good look. Your sentiment may have had some merit but your delivery negates any worth therein.

Thanks just the same for your opinion.

Life is too short for road rage.....we all have made mistakes that we regret later on...you just got a free pass from the man upstairs...bumping at 70 MPH is dangerous, especially in a convertible....hope you learned a lesson..

Don't be blinking your lights and honking your horn and shit because you're agitated. Just pull around him and be on your way. Also, don't slow down on a freeway to prove a point because it's not only dangerous to you and him but other drivers as well. This shit was started by you and you made it worse.

What you both did was stupid, but if he hit you from behind he is 100% liable according to the law.

And, somebody aid something about lying....all you need to say is what happened last, where you were, where other guy was and that he struck you from behind. Not necessary to explain what happened in the minutes before it happened.

You blew it. You had a prime chance to score a major PIT maneuver and you let it get away. Don't let it happen again. Bad drivers (ie everyone in your way) deserve punishment.

First, dont think there is a need to insult the guy, he himself Im pretty sure is aware that what he did is stupid, which is why he is sharing the story.

My question is, how on earth, do you go about dancing with another car on the street, back and forth, then come in contact with each other and then not get into a fight or some kind of physical altercation?

Thats about as odd as it gets :)

Just save yourself the trouble and go around him next time. It's faster than having to slow down and wait for them to move. I would never even bother flashing the lights at someone if there was a path around them. People don't care that they're in the wrong lane, and the ones that do move out of the way before you get up to their bumper.

I think the law should be if you are not closing the gap between you and the car in front of you, keep out of the left lane.
