I have:
1. XP firewall
2. ADSL modem with firewall
3. Agnitum Outpost Firewall (free software)
Since I updated my ADSL modem BIOS to newer version which includes firewall I have had only one connection request from other IP address.
Get ADSL/cable modem with firewall and you won't have any problems at home.

geesh.. must be a shitting firewall you have if they can get through it that easy.. There is a ton of things you can do, but if you got no clue about computer security yourself, you need someone to do it for you.. No point in explaining it all in detail if you do not even know how to set up a proper firewall on your computer..
here is a hot tip for you that might be worth looking into... have anyone given you any files to open or install lately ? if so, it might have been a trojan which gives them full remote access to your computer.. Might also explaine how they get around the firewall so easy(?). Do a sweep of your computer for any funny looking programs that might be running at start-up.
Get help from someone who knows how to secure a computer, since ofcause you can make your computer 99% hacker proof if you want to.
Unless its top pros doing the hacking, you should be able to track them also, or set up a trap for them..

call the guy and try to convince him to stop,, or at least to ban that ip to your ip...
if your firewall is good enough, also you could try to avoid any incoming conections to certain ports.
