A spelling mistake in an online bank transfer instruction helped prevent a nearly $1bn heist last month involving the Bangladesh central bank and the New York Fed, banking officials said.

Unknown hackers still managed to get away with about $80m, one of the largest known bank thefts in history.

I always thought you need someone on the inside to perform a task this huge.......I don't buy that someone stealing hundreds of million from hacking can't be traced somehow, & the money is never found.........

My question is ok sure it is all transferred and considered theft, but how did they actually get it. How did they actually turn it from a computer hack numbers in accounts to cash dollars able to be spent.

Exactly......I don't think we're getting the whole story anyway, & the investigation is still pending. They're saying theres a good chance they won't find the $80 million or the perpetrators.......hmm.....gotta have connections in very high places IMO.
