They would have to do too many things right in a short time to turn it all around. I don't doubt Hubie Brown as a coach to get it done. I doubt the actual playing talent of the team. The Spurs have far too many role players who all make big plays along with undoubtably the best player in the NBA and the most improved player in the league. The griz fail to get key boards and they are not playing as a team at the moment. They also fail to maintain a level of intensity for any length of time. Put simply they are out matched totally. I love seeing a dog win anytime but it's not going to be MEM. The only way they win is if Duncan and co dump in this game. Gl tho
Yeah i understand where you are coming from dolphin, it's all about value. MEM can win game 3. I have been majorly disapointed in them. This has nothing to do with the fact that i played them in game 1 and 2 but more just an overall assessment of their play in those two games. I really believed that in game 2 they would cover and for 3 qtrs it looked pretty good. They played Duncan almost perfect this time. You have to foul that guy and put him on the line. You have to let the spurs shooters beat you, which they did today. When the Griz got within 1 point in the 3rd they had to maintain a level of play but in the end it was too much for them and they cracked bigtime. Mentally that will bleep them in the head. I really don't know how they recover from that. Horry was unbelievable tonight. He played out of this world. He hit key 3's and grabbed key boards. The ultimate professional. The Griz just are not rebounding and making plays down the stretch. In key situation offensively they have gone to Wells and Wright and thats really bad. It should be Gasol and Williams. I think Hubie Brown has coached his ass off to get them so far into the playoff mix this year. The players have to respond now and show everyone they deserve to be in the playoffs. It's possible they win game 3. Hubie Brown would become coach of all time if somehow he turned it all around for them and they got themselfs back into the series. I would not bet against it. But right now the Spurs have all the aces.
My guess is that the public will be hitting Memphis hard for some of the same reasons being talked about here. However, this is a SA team that has been here before and IMO will come out and take the crowd out of it in the first half. It's still too ealry for me to make the call but right now I have to believe we might get a GIFT here!!! Good luck on whatever you play!
When a line such as this drops, it is NOT the public causing it. The public has seen FAVORITES covering more than HOME teams. The public loves any excuse to do what comes naturally...betting on favs. Joe public cannot be convinced that a Griz team which is getting wasted lately will have a 40% chance of beating the defending champs anywhere on the planet. Pros or pseudo-pros bet teams like Memphis in this spot, be assured.
