Any comment? 800 unrelated threads and 1 about BM. Does anyone have anything to say about an advertiser that just bailed with 500K in post up?

Part of en email I received from Blue Marlin today...

Ken,

I have just sent away some info to two prospected buyers and have appointments with 2 two others. I will keep you posted on anything transpiring. I do not want BlueMarlin to end up like Aces, Camelot. NAB etc.. I want to see BlueMarlin find a good home even at a personal loss.

Thanks for all your help
Reggie

P.S. This a copy of a email that went out to every client and is currently posted on the website:

Dear Blue Marlin Clients:

Effective Midnight Sunday, November 16th, Blue Marlin will cease all deposits and wagering operations pending sale negotiations currently underway.

This is the most agonizing and painful decision I have ever had to make. As most of you know, Blue Marlin Sports has enjoyed an excellent eight year reputation in the industry with no complaints of “slow” or “no” pay-outs.

With financial loss forcibly incurred from Secure Buxx, a particularly brutal football season and most recently, the repeated cyber-terrorist DOS attacks against multiple Costa Rican sports-books including Blue Marlin, we can simply no longer independently maintain operations.

I am currently in negotiations with multiple entities to transfer ownership to their respective sport-book operations. If I am successful in this transfer, clients should not sustain any financial loss. If I am unable to complete the sale, I will make every attempt to limit individual losses, however; it is important that you know there is NOT sufficient capital to compensate all clients in full. I ask that you continually monitor this website for additional information.

Again, my sincerest and heartfelt apologies to all of you, my intentions were never to hurt anyone. Please be patient as the dust settles, as I am doing everything humanly possible to protect all of you from loss.

Sincerely,

Reggie

Lots going on Men. Let us organize. Gotta take your shoes off before your socks. We'll get thru all the issues. Some favorable, some not. It may get worse before better.

All the best to each of us.

Sounds like Reggie wants to do the right thing and give what he has back to where it belongs. Its too bad he didn't do that before football season but now that the milk is spilled we should step back and see how this one gets cleaned up.

Anyone know why BM local phone number is taking wagers?

Too many sharp players there.

I can't imagine anyone with $ spending it to purchase wise guy action.

Well, please allow me to go back to 3rd grade math. At the point when you don't have the money you owe to others, you are broke.

I cannot help but believe that in this situation Blue Marlin took a week or three or four of shots at their players. Hope I am wrong.

Funny how if a player takes a shot he is a worthless piece of dung. When a book takes multiple shots, for weeks, they are under-capitalized or somehow victimized by dishonest customers.

When I say "wants to do the right thing" I mean from here on with the situation he created for everyone. The real right thing would have been to not roll the dice going into the football season without proper capitol.

Seems obvious to you and me, maybe Ken knows something we can't know. Maybe Blue Marlin thought they could pick enough winners to pull it out.

The e-mail I recieved just made me glad I didn't have any more $$ there than I did. Good luck to those who have any serious money there. Patrick and Ken have got your backs!!

Its not that complicated. They got hosed by a Sbuxx, and had a bad foots season like alot of books. DoS may of actually saved them a few days. They had alot of sharp action and I just read today about their credit players.

Even though it is easy to second guess now, lets face it there are probably a number of books in the same situation. If word got out there was any trouble then they would indeed be in trouble and things would be a lot worse than this situation. While surely getting everyone paid would be any honest BM's approach, admitting you are in trouble and not letting the whole situation play out with those in the know quickly taking out their money while most of the good customers get left to fend for themselves in a worse position. Considering all options, going out and trying to find a buyer and then telling EVERYONE that is probably the best course in a bad situation.
