There are some honest people out there, but i wonder if the guy would've returned the wallet if it didn't belong to a celebrity. I would've returned the wallet too knowing it belonged to an athlete, and the guy asking for just an autograph is classic, its like when you have pocket aces and you slow play them

Even if he asks for an autograph..A Danny Graves autograph probably isnt worth 14 bucks nevermind $1400

NJ Sports a little late with the thread, but still a good story.

When i made the reference to having pocket aces and slow playing them what i meant was the guy knew he just returned a wallet that belonged to an athlete who makes millions, the story get printed up and he just asks for an autograph, know we all know that Graves isn't going to give the guy just an autograph, the guy knows he's going to get more then just an autograph but like i said its like having pocket aces knowing you have the best hand going in blind , Graves has to make himself look good as well because remember baseball can use all the publicity it can get. You know when a girl asks you what time is it and she's wearing a watch, or when a girl asks you "excuse me does this train go north" and the train only goes south, or when a girl asks you "what do you do for a living" and im covered in paint from head to toe and wearing my dickys painter pants. You could look at it and say that they don't know better, then you obviously don't know the rules of the game.

Right...I agree with you Jesus , if he was to found John Doe's wallet he wouldn't return it.

Can't say that he would or would not have...would guess the latter. Turning the cash into travelers checks is classic too.

Weigh $1400 cash vs. national publicity, memorabilia and of course a cash reward. Only a junkie, a moron who would have tried to use the ballpark pass also or a degenerate gambler would have kept the cash.

Let's see $1400 with a 20% bonus gives me $1680 with a 4x rollover as opposed to let's see..........lol.
