I don't think he should go. He'll be there many times in the future, but not this season.
The All Star game is pretty lame anyways. They need to get rid of fan voting because it ruins the whole thing. You can tell which players play in big markets.
- DeRosa is getting more votes than HR leader Dan Uggla
- Griffey is going to be a starter (which is an absolute joke)
- A-Ram is getting more votes than Wright
- Youk is starting over Morneau
- Jeter is a starter every year when he is absolutely terrible. Don't even get me started on how overrated Jeter is.
- Varitek (hitting .222) has 1 million more votes than AJ Pierzynski (hitting .296). Oh yeah, I'm sure those weren't Boston fans voting there...
- Guys like Milton Bradley and Grady Sizemore should go over someone like Vlad, but of coarse that would never happen.
The whole voting process is so biased towards big markets that it really makes a joke of the whole game. Jeter should not be a starter in the all star game every year. He shouldn't even be there most years. Varitek getting in would be the biggest joke I've ever heard of.
We're basically going to be watching the Red Sox + Yankees vs the Cubs + NL East. That is pretty much the All Star game.
