NEW ORLEANS – A New Orleans mother was arrested for allegedly abandoning her nine- year-old child outside Harrah’s downtown casino Sunday, State Police said.
The child was found sitting outside the casino Sunday just before 4 p.m. Troopers assigned to the State Police casino unit said the boy told them his mother left him outside while she went inside to gamble.

Troopers identified the mother as Yvette Lindsey, 41, of New Orleans. She was located inside the casino, arrested and booked with child desertion and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

Troopers determined that the child was left alone outside of the casino for approximately 30 minutes. He is now in the custody of his father.

THIBODAUX — A Galliano father was arrested after he allegedly left his 4-year-old son unattended in a vehicle while he gambled at a truck stop casino, authorities said.

Troy McPhail, 41, 110 Peach, Galliano, is accused of leaving his child in his SUV in the parking lot of the Jubilee Travel Plaza, 16860 La. 3235, Cut Off, on two separate occasions, including Saturday night. The casino’s employees notified authorities leading to McPhail’s arrest.

Baby Alone in Cold Car as Dad Gambles in Casino

Published: 2/01 9:17 am

Farmington/Rochester, N.Y. - Monday, about 4:30 p.m., a Rochester man was arrested inside a Farmington casino while his 7-month old child was alone in the car, according to Ontario Co. Police.

Police said another patron heard the baby cry and called security who removed Clint R. Vanepps’ baby from the car. The temperature was 15 degrees; the car was turned off.

The car seat was covered in a light cloth. Police said it appeared to be an attempt to hide the baby from the view of others.

Vanepps, 25, was located in the gambling in the casino and arrested only after the baby was safe.

He’d been gambling for about an hour, police said. He is in Ontario Co. Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

Grandmother Left Child In Car To Gamble In Casino: Cops

WPIX NEWSROOM
12:05 PM PST, March 4, 2011
YONKERS, N.Y. (WPIX)
A New York woman was arrested and charged with child endangerment after police say she left her 6-year-old grandson in her car while she gambled at a Westchester County casino.

According to authorities, Rose Thigpen-Grant, 53, of Syracuse, hit the Empire City Casino in Yonkers Wednesday night, leaving the child behind in her parked car.

A passerby called 911 after discovering the unattended child alone in the vehicle. The car was not running and temperatures were reportedly below 20 degrees Wednesday night.

Responding officers managed to unlock the car's door and free the boy. Police say the child was told by his grandmother to stay inside the car because she went to get something. Authorities believe the child was left alone for about an hour.

When Thigpen-Grant finally returned to the vehicle, she ran from officers when she was approached, police said. She was eventually placed in police custody.

The child, who was not identified, was taken to the Youth Division where arrangements were made to place the child in the custody of a family friend.

In addition to endangering the welfare of a child, Thigpen-Grant was charged with resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

DA: Drunk East Palo Alto dad left twin 3-year-olds in car at casino

An East Palo Alto man drove drunk across San Mateo County with his twin toddlers in the car and then left the boys alone in the vehicle while he went into Lucky Chances Casino, a prosecutor said Monday.
Fred Wight's 3-year-old sons were discovered about 1:40 a.m. by a security guard patrolling the Colma cardroom's parking lot on Sept. 16, said San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
Wight, 32, was released from jail Monday after pleading no contest to drunken driving and child endangerment, both misdemeanors, Wagstaffe said. Judge Lisa Novak gave him credit for the jail time he had served since his arrest the night of incident. Wight must complete four years of probation and a yearlong parenting class.
After the security guard found the boys in the vehicle with the windows rolled down, authorities tracked down Wight inside the casino. Wight said he went to the casino to borrow money from his uncle.
The boys' mother, who lived in the same East Palo Alto house as their father, said she had no idea they were gone, Wagstaffe said. She had been sleeping while the casino drama unfolded, he said.
Casino security called the police after finding Wight, and they in turn noticed he smelled like alcohol.
Officers found one empty and one full 40-ounce bottle of beer in the car. Wight's blood alcohol content was .14 or nearly double the legal limit of .08, Wagstaffe said.

A mother wanted on counterfeiting charges has been accused of leaving her five-year-old son alone in a hotel room so she could gamble.

Xiao Xu Wu was charged on Wednesday with risk of injury to a minor after her son called 911 and said he was left alone at a Mohegan Sun Casino in New York.

Police said the 38-year-old Wu had pending immigration charges and was wanted in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on counterfeiting charges. She also was charged as a fugitive from justice and held on a $200,000 bond.

As CBS News reports, the five-year-old boy did not know where his mother was when he woke up from a nap to find himself alone, and called 911.
The dispatcher gently questioned him about her whereabouts and determined his mother was absent.

Police say the woman left her cellphone number on the nightstand with instructions not to open the door for anyone, but the boy said he could not read the note.
The state Department of Children and Families has taken the child into custody.

The mother was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a minor. The Courant reports Wu was also wanted on immigration charges.
According to the network, she told prosecutors she 'felt that there was nothing wrong with what she had done' by leaving her boy alone in the hotel room.*
In a statement to the newspaper, the casino said: 'Here at Mohegan Sun we do everything we can to provide the opportunity for all guests to act responsibly.

'When it comes to child care, we have multiple options available for guests including Kids Quest and Cyber Quest facilities. We have a no tolerance policy for things of this nature and are cooperating fully with all authorities on this matter.'
The case was continued to February 24.
It's not known if Wu is represented by a lawyer.

Parents Arrested After Reportedly Leaving Children Home Alone To Go To Parx*Casino

May 26, 2012 12:00 AM

By Elizabeth Hur

BENSALEM, Pa. (CBS) - Upset and confused, a toddler was found wandering in a supermarket parking lot at 1 a.m. Friday.

Police later learned the boy and his brother were left home alone by their parents so they could gamble at the Parx casino in Bensalem.

Eyewitness News spoke to the Good Samaritan who found the child.

Robert Bannon explained, “I expected to see blood when I picked him up because it was like a blood curdling scream.”

Bannon, with a toddler nephew of his own, could not believe his eyes when he saw an unsupervised toddler running around the parking lot of the Giant store on 4001 New Falls Road.

Bannon said, “He looked scared to death. He was very scared. At first I was waiting to see a parent to start yelling at him because normally when you see kids running across, parents are a few feet behind yelling.”

But when that didn’t happen, Bannon immediately sprang into action.

“I told my girlfriend to call 911 and I ran across and got the kid, he was trying to get into Giant like he’s been there before.”

Bannon says police arrived within minutes and took over from there.

According to court documents, the 2-year-old boy could not speak but pointed in the direction of an apartment complex connected to the supermarket by a footbridge. Police eventually located the child’s home which turned out to be about the length of a football field away from where he was found.

“It shocked me,” Bannon reacted.

Shocked to learn the child’s 4-year-old brother was sleeping inside with their parents nowhere to found.

According to police, their investigation revealed that the children’s mother had texted her next door neighbor earlier:

“Hey, if we go to the casino around 11 or so can u listen for the boys they are sleeping right now.”

Followed by another text that read:

“Guess u are sleeping.”

Police say with help from that neighbor, they tracked down and arrested 24-year-old Nicole Donahue and 29-year-old Ryan Feyh. The two initially told police they were out running errands but later admitted they were at the Parx casino gambling.

The couple’s neighbor Crysta Farmer said, “He could have been hit by a car, he could have gotten kidnapped, he could be on a milk box by now.”

Another neighbor Geri Lerner added, “They seemed nice, they seemed like they got along. They seemed like they loved their children. I’m just so glad the boys are alright.”

Court documents stated the couple’s children are now in the custody of other family members. Donahue and Feyh were charged with Endangering Welfare of Children and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. Both were sent to jail unable to post bail.

Legalize online gambling to save children? Think the amount of people that gamble at casinos and responsibly take care of their kids far outweighs these chuckleheads. How about put these people in jail and take away their kids?

N.J. man charged with leaving baby in car so he could play blackjack at Parx

By Jo Ciavaglia Staff writer updated: 5 hours ago
The day before his birthday, a South Jersey man took a trip to Parx Casino with his 14-month-old daughter.

But after casino employees turned them away at the door, Shannon Fenton of Brant Beach allegedly returned to his car in the casino parking lot where he strapped his daughter into her car seat -- then headed back inside to the blackjack tables, police said.

That decision left Fenton celebrating his 27th birthday Thursday in Bucks County prison, facing a charges of endangering the welfare of a child, which carries a penalty of up to five years in jail, and recklessly endangering another person.

Pennsylvania State Police were the first to respond Wednesday afternoon to a 4:15 p.m. report of a baby left inside a car at the casino in the 2000 block of Street Road. When they arrived, they found a baby alone in a car seat inside a Blue Toyota Corolla with New Jersey plates.

The car appeared to be running with the windows up, according to a probable cause affidavit. The keys were in the ignition and the front driver’s side door was unlocked. The affidavit did not say if the car had a working air conditioner or if it was turned on.

When Bensalem police arrived, the crying baby had been removed from the vehicle by a trooper, court records show. He described her skin as “warm to the touch” and “clammy,” according to the affidavit.

Police estimated that the baby was alone in the car for about 15 to 20 minutes.

The high temperature in the Philadelphia region Wednesday was 91 degrees at 2:30 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. By 4 p.m., it had dropped to 89 degrees.

Temperatures in a closed automobile rise approximately 19 degrees in just 10 minutes, and 43 degrees in an hour, according to a San Francisco University study. The temperature rises fastest during the first 30 minutes.

About 15 minutes after police arrived at the casino parking lot, Fenton returned to his car. He told police he went into the casino only to use the bathroom, but later changed his story to say he was gambling, according to the affidavit.

Bensalem police said Fenton told them he went to Parx to gamble but, after he was denied access with his daughter, he returned the child to the car and went back to the casino to play* “numerous” hands of blackjack.

Fenton was arraigned Wednesday night before Morrisville District Judge Michael Burns on the misdemeanor charges and sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

Since it opened, Parx has experienced periodic problems with gamblers leaving children alone inside parked cars. At least three such incidents occurred last year, down from nine in 2010.

The problem prompted Bucks County state lawmaker Sen. Tommy Tomlinson, whose district includes Bensalem, in 2010 to introduce a bill making it a third-degree felony to leave a child under age 13 in a car without adult supervision. The bill is still in judiciary committee.

In December, the House approved two bills designed to reduce the incidences*of unattended children in casino parking lots.

One bill would*double the potential fines imposed on casinos if they fail to report such incidents to police and social-service agencies. The other would require casinos to post signs warning patrons not to leave unattended children on casino property. The Senate has the bills now.

Police: Parents Gambled While Baby Slept Alone In Hard Rock Hotel*Room

Albert Thomas Owens, Broward County Jail, Child Neglect, Crime, Florida Child Abuse Hotline, Hotel Room, Seminole Hard

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) – Two South Florida parents looking to spend a night alone at a casino now face charges of child neglect after their 20 month old child was found sleeping alone in a hotel room.

Natalie Fouch, 30, and Albert Thomas Owens, 36, appeared in Broward County Court on Wednesday.

Seminole Police say Hard Rock Hotel & Casino security responded to a guestroom after the phone had been disconnected from the wall, which is standard procedure.

Upon arriving at the room, officers noticed a 20 month old child sleeping unharmed in one of the beds.

Officers say they stayed in the room for about a half an hour until the couple arrived. They told security that they unplugged the phone so it wouldn’t wake the baby.

Both were placed under arrest and taken to the Broward County Jail.

The child was released to the custody of his grandmother and the couple was reported to the Florida Child Abuse Hotline.

Don't see a problem with this, other than she could have sold the kids and had more gambling money.

When you gotta gamble you gotta gamble, surely CPS know this,

[h=1]Dad accused of leaving son in hot car at Parx[/h] By Jo Ciavaglia Staff writer | Posted: Monday, July 8, 2013 10:00 pm
A Philadelphia man allegedly left his 18-month-old son inside a car where the temperature was above 88 degrees so he could play blackjack at Parx casino in Bensalem on Saturday.
Bensalem police say the boy was alone, screaming and “sweating profusely” when they found him inside a gray Lexus parked about 300 feet from the doors to the casino, which is on Street Road.
Police were called to the casino parking lot shortly after 9 p.m., when the temperature outside was 88 degrees with 62 percent humidity.
“Officers on scene described the interior of the vehicle to be hotter than the exterior temperature,” according to a affidavit of probable cause.
While police were investigating, car owner Danny Ngo, 44, of Adams Avenue, appeared, police said. He admitted he was inside the casino gambling, but told police he was inside only 10 minutes.
Surveillance video, though, showed he was inside closer to 40 minutes, according to the affidavit.
“Ngo also admitted to police that he knew leaving his son alone in the vehicle was wrong,” according to the affidavit.
Ngo was arraigned Sunday before Bensalem District Judge Leonard Brown on misdemeanor charges of recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of children. He was sent to Bucks County prison in lieu of 10 percent of $100,000.
Since it opened, Parx has experienced periodic problems with gamblers leaving children alone inside parked cars. At least two incidents occurred last year, down from nine in 2010.
A child's body temperature rises three to five times faster than an adult's and even with the windows partially down, the temperature inside a parked car can reach 125 degrees in minutes, according to the group kidsandcars.org. Last year, 32 children in the United States died of heat stroke after they were left inside cars, down from 33 the year before, according to the organization.

Child found alone in casino parking lot, police search for mother

Reported by: Preston Jones Email: pjones@fox23.com
Updated: 9:55 am Published: 9:30 am

Catoosa police are looking for the mother of a child found alone, without a shirt, in the parking lot of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Police Chief Kevin McKim told FOX23 witnesses saw the child running around without a shirt on in the parking garage. They said he told them his parents got mad at him and left him there.

Police said this all started just before midnight on Thursday when several people saw the 4-year-old boy in the parking garage. Security immediately came and got him and he is in DHS custody.

Police said shortly after they arrived the father of the boy came back and police arrested him. He's facing child neglect and endangerment charges.

Police are still searching for the mother of the child and are working with the casino to review surveillance video to find out more information.

McKim said they think the couple was living in the van on casino property and the mother has a 10-year deferred sentence for child neglect and she's not supposed to be anywhere near that child.

Police haven't placed her with the child yet, she's just a person of interest.

Baby died days after being found lifeless in Alice Springs casino car park: inquest

By Anthony Stewart

The circumstances surrounding the death of a six-month-old baby five days after the child was discovered alone in car is being investigated by the Northern Territory Coroner.

The child - who is being referred to as Baby C - was spotted lying lifeless in a car parked at a casino in Alice Springs in January 2013, the court heard.

The infant was born eight weeks premature in July 2012 and suffered delayed development as a result.

Security guard Chris Usher told the inquest that while patrolling the Alice Springs casino in the early hours of New Year's Day, he spotted the infant lying in a car.

Mr Usher told the court how minutes later Baby C's mother arrived and "shook the child like a rag doll" until she opened her eyes.

The court heard the baby was rushed to hospital, where she was monitored for two days, before being placed in foster care.

The foster carer looking after Baby C is due to give evidence this afternoon.

What's NOT mentioned here......

Casinos have clear rules on stuff like this.

If you declare on your way in that you left minor children unattended in the car....... to suffocate, freeze to death, get mauled by the family pet, or whatever.

The casino simply verifies how much money you have to play with...... and then welcomes you in just long enough to skin you for every cent you have. Hell with the child's welfare.... the casino's financial health is all that is important.

Don't forget.... ANY LINES OF CREDIT WILL BE EXHAUSTED AS WELL.

The government can figure out how to bury the kids. Serves them right for all the rack they take off the poor casinos!
