1. Why is your team going to be better than they were last season?
The Wings don’t need to improve. They just need to be healthy going into the Finals. Pittsburgh proved that even a mediocre team can beat a great one if players like Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Rafalski and Cleary are all hurt.

…..a certain Pensblog twitted or maybe more appropriately for them twatted that the Wings will fail to make the playoffs, I think they are underestimating this team of champions. This failure of other teams to respect their superiors will certainly make watching the Wings piss in Bettman’s cereal once again that much more delightful and rewarding. Oh I know I sound like a cocky, pompous, arrogant, elitist Red Wings fan, but suck it. Call me a douchebag bastard if you will, but the Wings will once again finish the regular season at the top.

The Wings and Pens bloggers have been disrespecting each other all summer since "the handshake" And a lot of this was just continued digs by the immature Wings bloggers who chimed in for this survey.

And without taking credit away from the Pens, if Datsyuk, Lidstrom and Hossa hadn't suffered the injuries they did...the Wings win that series 95 times out of 100. If not higher. And as much as I admire his talent on the ice, Crosby refused to give the Wings ANY credit the year before when they won.

Is there ANYONE in their right mind that feels the Wings will MISS the playoffs next season? As one of these guys responded to? lol. ALL the books with futures have them with either the best or 2nd best odds to be right back for a 3rd time in the finals.

Hey...I'm not nieve enough to think they're as good as they were last season with the loss of Hossa, Hudler and Samuelsson, but they won the season before without Hossa in 08' and Helm, Leino and Ericsson weren't even in the picture. The core are all still there.
If that makes me part of the joke...so be it. Just being real about things.

Holmstrom IS evidently healthy for the 1st season in years. 3 seasons ago he was the best down low player in the game. Bar none. A healthy Homer could very well be the difference it takes to reach at least the conference finals for the 4th season in a row. Playing that deep into the season I would imagine would take it's toll at a certain point in time. No non American teams haven't been able to achieve that feat since the 80's. And that's an awful long time.

The ONLY league anyone cares about or is interested in playing in is the NHL. They play for their countries every 4 years for 2 weeks in the Olympics. There's only one reason your interested in junior hockey and thats because Canada cannot support many major league teams because 4/5ths of the teams reside in the US. Where they can afford to pay for salaries the Canadian teams cannot. This is basically all YOU have left to root for because the game is now run by Americans in America. Not to mention your most valuable franchise is now run by 2 Americans and your most storied franchise is in the process of being sold by an American. The greatest player to ever play the game has left Canada and now resides in the United States. Where the future of the game eventually will lie. You can develop all the talent needed in Canada or the surrounding countries but they all long to play in the NHL which is now run by Americans in America. Please, don't deter the good mothers of Canada to help produce future NHL talent with your grass roots programs. Americans enjoy the entertainment.

Canada's game is no longer run or decided by Canadians. And hasn't had a team from Canadian soil win the cup in the past 17 seasons. But try and hang on to what you got. There's only 6 left. In 10 more years you may just be taking a bus or train south of the border to watch your favorite team play.
