Gotta love how the announcers, or anyone on forums noticed that the clock didn't restart on Odel Beckhman 1st down

AL Michaels doesn't notice. Nobody on the forums seems to be bringing it up, but after Odel Beckham caught the pass inside the 5, the clock never started until the snap. Unbelievable that nobody is talking about this. Dallas had two times outs, so it was essentially over if Dallas has to call their second there before the next play.

There would only have been a few seconds, if any, for Dallas there, after two straight runs, with Dallas only having one timeout after the play, instead of two. They gave Dallas a Bonus Play and not one genius that I have seen has even noticed.

They got that right, actually. Any penalty, declined or not, inside 5 minutes to go in the game stops the clock and it starts on the snap, according to the rules guy.
Eli blew it in so many ways. He should have milked the clock and snapped with a second to go on the playclock every time. He didn't. Once, he snapped it with about 15 seconds to go when the clock was running.

the crazy play where they kept fucking around with the clock eli left about 15 sec on the clock...then on 3rd and goal he threw it away. Those two play alone is about a minute of time that should've been taken off the clock...i expected that from romo, not eli

I didn't know this....so let's say its' 1st and goal at the 2, can you just encroach to stop the clock while giving up only 1 yard? basically any "and goal" situation you can implement this to prevent the other team from kneeling?

Helluva good point. There might be something in the rules to prevent this, or if not, count on Belichick to do something like this to exploit it sometimes. Here's the rule. "If the game clock is stopped after a down in which there was a foul by either team, following enforcement or declination of a penalty, the game clock will start as if the foul had not occurred, except that the clock will start on the snap if: (1) the foul occurs after the two-minute warning of the first half;(2) the foul occurs inside the last five minutes of the second half; or (3) a specific rule prescribes otherwise. "

Maybe your situation is covered in #3?

In that case the offensive team can just decline thepenelity to avoid that.

the penalty stops the clock

the Giants run on third down, they either score or at least use up 40 more seconds, game over

or Eli should have taken a sack as opposed to throwing it away, he eats up another 40 seconds, game over

and don't forget the penalty on the Giants that enabled the Cowboys to save another time out just outside of the 2 minute warning

that has to be one of the worst cases of game clock management I ever saw
