I was thumbing through the documentaries and I saw that one. I'll go back and add it. Looks like it'll be a documentary marathon tonight. Watching The Science of Dogs, Moment of Death, A State of Mind, Crossing the Line and Waiting for Armageddon.

Check out Restrepo.

Please let us know what you thought of these...or bump the Docu thread...always looking for good Docu's...Thanks

my dog would leave with the first person to feed him. Offer him a treat, he's yours

yeah...i go by the pound about once a month and it breaks my heart i cannot take everyone of them home...if i ever win the lottery i will buy 500 acres and do just that...

lol...that is what i alway's tell people, that if i win the lottery and what would be 1 of my top 3 thing's to do. my own 'dog camp'...i see dog's in bad situations all day long at my job and it break's my heart. i had a guy come up to me the other day w a puppy in his hand, a german sheppard, and was trying to get rid of it because he bacame homeless and needed to get some money for a bus ticket. he was just going to let the dog run wild if he could'nt find someone to take it. well, it made me sick to think about that puppy running wild, so i took the guy to mcdonalds and then the bus station and gave him money for his ticket. i then gave the puppy to a good friend of mine and their family who was ironicaly was wanting a larger type protective dog for his wife and family. i don't even really know why he was the first person i thought about calling, but he was very very happy that i did. they took the puppy w out any hesitation. i would have kept her, but we already have two dog's and my wife is deathly afraid of german sheppard's. her own german sheppard they had when she was 9, bit her in the face and she has been very afraid of them ever since...

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this movie, based on a true story.
The dog waited something like ten years for it's owner... astounding.

If you're like me, don't read the wiki link before you watch the
movie...

If anyone has NetFlix streaming, I urge you to watch Dogs Decoded: Nova. It's an amazing look at the relationship between dogs and humans and how dogs are significantly more intelligent than they were initially given credit for. Dogs are the only other animal that can look at a human and read their emotions, which chimps and apes cannot do. One researcher said that had humans not domesticated dogs that modern civilization would not have been possible due to how critical herding dogs were as early humans transitioned from a hunter/gatherer society to an agricultural one. Absolutely amazing stuff.

I was raised on a farm and always had a dog. Loved every one of them. Moved to the city 37 years ago and never have had one. Seems cruel to keep one penned up.

Not to throw cold water on the love in but a few years ago it was in the news where this old guy died and his dogs ate him.

I guess they are individuals.
