THOSE ALL IMPORTANT 'OUTS' 09/04/03 - Krackman
Since the pro football season officially started Thursday, I have a few pointers I would like to share with my fellow Rx.com readers.
One of the most important is to have enough ‘outs.’ That means having more then one sports book to take your action. The more you have in your arsenal the better.
You won’t believe how much extra money you will save by getting an extra point on a few games per week.
Getting perks is one of the best parts about signing up with sports books this time of year. Most books give you a 10 to 20 percent initial sign-up bonus just for trying their book. That, in my eyes, gives you a few Bonus Bets or lowers the vigorish.
Pinnacle, Sirbet and Betpanam are three sports books I use that offer reduced juice. Cascade is also a good book to include in your ‘outs’ because they sometimes have an opinion. They are known as a sharp book to the top sports bettors and other sports books out there. Keep a close eye on their numbers.
I would divide my bankroll evenly between books and keep no more than 10 percent in any one book. Sometimes this is hard to do, but that is what I recommend for starters.
Play within your means, as money management is very important. I have met many gamblers over the past few years, but 99 percent of them cannot keep a bankroll because they steam and chase when they lose.
There are weekends where I lose on Saturday and Sunday and I lay off the Monday night game because I don't like a side. This is very hard for many people to do. You’re out with the boys for a couple of brews and you need action.
Trust me, I have been there and have gone through all of that same stuff 10 years ago. I don't even watch the games anymore, but rather just get the final scores. Ideally, this can also spare you heartburn, allow you to live longer, and keep counting a large number of candles on the cake.
A famous gambler recently was quoted as saying; “I have been around gambling long enough to know that the euphoria wears off after a while. Initially, when you are around gambling, there is a honeymoon effect. But as time goes on – and you struggle to stay in the money, you see the painful side of gambling. The honeymoon ends, it just ends.”
Unfortunately this is true, but it doesn't have to be.
To update a previous article I wrote for the RX, Chilly Beaver has been seen with large stacks of thousand dollar chips in front of him, a few girls at his side and a smile from ear to ear. He has seen the light and the gambling gods are smiling down on him.
Unfortunately, International, the other guy I know, is still telling wild tales and getting hurt in all facets of gambling. However, I am still pulling for him.
