Nothing really surprises me anymore but this is the type of stuff that pisses me off. Millennium Sportsbook has odds posted to win the UEFA Champion's League in soccer. There are odds listed for the 32 teams that started this group phase of the competition. This phase of the Champion's League concludes with matches on Tuesday and Wednesday. Here are prices that Millennium has posted for six of the teams.

Marseille 110-1
Rangers 150-1
Panathinaikos 665-1
Partizan Belgrade 750-1
Olympiakos 750-1
AEK Athens 875-1

There's only one problem. All six teams have been mathematically eliminated from the competition. Unbelieveable.

I TOTOALLY AGREE!

This kind of thing has been going on in Vegas ever since I can remember, and now it has extended to the offshore world.

unethical, yes, incompetent, no. It's like 6-5 blackjack, people are stupid enough to play it, so they offer it.

Green- It's both unethical and incompetent and also just plain wrong to offer big prices like that on teams that have been eliminated.

You're way off base to even remotely compare it to 6-5 blackjack. When a player plays the 6-5 blackjack they certainly lower their chances to win the longer they're at the table but at least they have a chance. They can still get a blackjack and they still win other hands. What I brought up is a situation where none of those six teams can win. To offer prices on those six teams is larcenous.

You think these guys pay attention to the standings? I think if the player is dumb enough to bet on something they have no clue on why blame the book? Only one that could be blamed is their line service, if they use one consistently for these types of odds. The line service should be advising them of who is eliminated, but then again for something that isn't a North American sport I can't say I am surprised if they missed it. Not to mention if you go to Europe 99% of the people that would bet on sports will know who is eliminated from the Champions league so I doubt too many suckers are going to fall for this one.

Fvck he! They are an RX advertiser. No wonder!
Why does someone not put on a US$10 bet and starts complaining about it next week?
Creates a nice little drama!

HERE IS A SOLUTION, DON'T FUKING BET IT, ANY ONE DUMB ENOUGH TO NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN A WAGER HAS 0% CHANCE OF WINNING MATHEMATICALLY DESRVES TO LOSE MONEY. IF I HAD A BOOK I WOULD DO THE SAME, YOU WANT TO BET THING S WITHOUT ANY RESEARCH AT ALL THE YOU DESERVE TO LOSE. AND STOP BITCHING, NO ONE PUTS A GUN TO ANYONE'S HEAD AND SAYS YOU HAVE TO BET ANY OF THOS LINES.

I agree, SCPNC, but you don't have to SHOUT!! People that complain about getting suckered on things like this are the same people that complained that they meant to vote for Gore, not Buchanon in FL. If your too stupid to know better, maybe you shouldn't be gamblin (or votin). Caveat Emptor.

...thus raising the philosophical question of whether Athens is a better bet than Marseilles.

Millennium or any other sportsbook is free to put up whatever prices they want on whatever events they want. That is their option. It is also the option for people in this forum to take them to task for it. That's exactly what I did and will do it again tomorrow if I see any sportsbook do what they did.

Offshore sportsbooks constantly complain about bonus whores, dual account holders, past posters and people betting bad lines. The players can and should take the sportsbooks to task when they see something they feel is wrong. Doing the right thing works both ways.

scpnc- The caps lock button is hidden on the left side of your keyboard.

So if I shortchange a customer, its their fault for not realizing it? Millennium STOLE my money and everyone else's for leaving their money at Millennium so it does not surprise me if they offer odds on teams that have no chance of winning.

I agree a book can put up any numbers they want, if people are stupid enough to bet them so be it, if that's the book's intention. The sad part is that the book probably doesn't even know those teams are already out of the competition, some of those guys don't know shhit about soccer.
