posting after the start of the game vs. arizona. unfort didn't have access to computer before that.
there have been other mcdonald's all americans who went to non perennial top 10 schools (ex. uk,ku,duke,nc,uconn, syr, ucla etc.)
but i think 2 things make wiltjer stand out:
1) he's seasoned. played very well in one season at kentucky. then sat out of a year. so he's 3rd year guy i think and so many of the mcd all-americans don't make their 2nd season.
2) he's big. college basketball can be so much based on physical mismatches. just dump the ball over your defender's head. a 6 foot 5 MCD AA freshman at gonzaga would be so dominant on teammates. and i think height is so much more of an advantage over athleticism at lower level basketball... in the NBA wiltjer will be guarded by someone probably large enough to stop or someone much much quicker than him

not sure of arizona's D as game wasn't on TV in canada (alot of gonzaga games will be due to pangos/wiltjer. kyle's dad is one of canada's best players ever)..... but i was probably thinking wiltjer just dominating defenders would be more WCC than against top 10ish type programs.

sort of "so far so good" on this.... 8-4 overall and 3-1 WCC.... alot of tiny ATS wins and losses though but it's looking pretty good.
BTW, i probably don't update the threads with my ideas that don't work out... so yes, this is probably "selective memory" at work
