Cubs ARE FAR FROM dead folks...

I agree Houston is playing the best ball in the NL right now, but the cubs are only 2.5 games behind them.......

And they are possibly getting Nomar back this week...

Wood coming back, and likely going into the bullpen, where he can baffle anyone for an inning at a time.....that will free up Rusch to go back to rotation where he was very effective.......Lee continues to shine, Ramirez is RED HOT, Hairston is doing well at lead off, and rookie Murton has been impressive since taking over left field.....

Cubs are not done yet....

The Cubs have no bullpen, so until they get one they will have a hard time staying with the Astros.

FYI:
Stuck at 15-30 on May 24, they have surged to the top of the wild-card race with a 41-17 push.(including a 20-2 home record in that span) By comparison, they didn't take sole possession of the wild-card spot last year until the final game of the season. The Astros' pitching staff has allowed two or fewer runs in 10 of their last 11 games. The last time the Astros yielded more than two runs in back-to-back games was July 19 at Pittsburgh when they swept a twin bill from the Pirates.

How Long Are We Going To Have To See Hairston Jr. In Centerfield? The Guy Is Pathetic. The Cubs Will Never Catch Houston Or Any One Else With Him In Center. Oh By The Way, Have You Noticed How Pathetic Of A Home Team The Cubs Are?

While I agree that 2 games over .500 at home is not going to win the division it is hardley pathetic. They also have the 2nd best road record in the National league. Nomar, Wood, and Williamson all expected back next weekend in New York. The Cubs need a good bat out of Nomar and 2 more arms for the bullpen is certainly going to help.

No doubt Houston will win the wildcard. Astros have the best pitching staff in baseball. The starting three, middle relief, and closer are solid all around. They are capable of going on another 8-10 game winning streak to close out the season. They will be the scariest team to face in the playoffs with Clemens, Oswalt, and Pettite.
