I think Houston's win total is about right on the number. They might be able to go over 9, but from a betting standpoint I don't think they are going to be that great of a team to wager on in 2016. Especially with having to replace some key players on defense including the entire defensive backfield. I can see a lot of shootouts, especially when they hit the road. Their games at Cincy, Navy and Memphis are not sure wins at all, along with Louisville. If they should lose to OU early, it means they'll have to go through the rest of their schedule with just one loss for you to hit your over. Can they do it with a defense that probably won't be as good as last year? Tough call, but I lean no. Much of your bet will depend on the OU game. If Houston upsets the Sooners it could set the tone for the rest of the season. But there are probably better bets out there. Nine wins looks like a push total if UH loses early to the Sooners.

couple of highly rated JUCO players are also expected to contribute. The potential weakness
of the team is inexperience in the secondary. Good play there and the Cougars are going to

CL, I agree...but Fisher is the best QB coach in college football. I think he'll find a QB and they're going to be tough to beat.

Plus I think 3 out of our last 4 national champions have had first year QB's. Including Winston at FSU. Experience used to be a priority for me at this position. But the game has changed.

speaking of QBs here are espn's top 10 qb battles....

1. NOTRE DAME
Contenders: DeShone Kizer (redshirt sophomore) and Malik Zaire (redshirt junior)
Leader: Kizer
A few weeks back, the Notre Dame quarterback situation was ranked the best in all of college football. Some coaches say the Irish’s No. 3, redshirt freshmanBrandon Wimbush, is a better prospect than the No. 1 QB on many Power 5 rosters.
Who wins the country’s most contested race? The slight lean as of now is Kizer, according to those close the program. Remember that Zaire is coming back from a broken ankle, so timing and confidence are bound to be works in progress.
The spring was valuable in helping Zaire get back to full speed, coach Brian Kelly has said, so don’t rule him out if he has a stronger preseason camp. For now, though, pencil in Kizer, who won eight games last season as a freshman following Zaire’s injury in Week 2.
File away that Kelly has not ruled out the idea of both QBs getting snaps -- but it would not seem to have much of a benefit since both possess similar skill sets.

2. ALABAMA
Contenders: Blake Barnett (redshirt freshman), Cooper Bateman (redshirt junior), David Cornwell (sophomore), Jalen Hurts (freshman)
Leader: Bateman
For the third straight season, Alabama will have a new starting quarterback -- and the race, as it was 2014 and 2015, is unlikely to be decided until mid-to-late August.
But here’s a distinctly plausible scenario, those close to the program say: Bateman, the more experienced option, starts the opener against USC -- and Barnett, the youngster with a higher ceiling, eventually takes over during the SEC season.
It adds up. The older QB won the starting job each of the past two seasons, and Bateman took first-team reps throughout the spring. But Barnett, the No. 1 pocket passer in the 2015 class, was hand-picked by offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. At 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, he’s the prototype.
Hurts is unlikely to win the job, but he did enough in his first spring to vie for a role in the offense as a change of pace. In the A-Day Game, the 6-foot-2, 210-pounder went 11 for 15 and threw the scrimmage’s only touchdown. In fairness, the score came late and against a group of defensive reserves.

3. USC
Contenders: Max Browne (redshirt junior), Sam Darnold(redshirt freshman)
Leader: Browne
Browne, the No. 2 pocket passer in the 2013 recruiting class, patiently waited his turn behind Cody Kessler, but now he’s got serious competition from Darnold.
USC’s staff raves about Darnold, the No. 8 pocket passer in the 2015 class. Trojans coaches like his poise, even though he turns just 19 next month. They also like his athleticism.
He had a solid enough spring that coach Clay Helton held off on naming Browne the starter. He has acknowledged Browne is the leader, but the gap is not all that wide.
The pocket passer label is a bit misleading in Darnold’s case. He’s mobile enough that Helton and his brother, Tyson, the playcaller, could easily platoon the two QBs. That might provide USC’s best option, especially given the opener against Bama and its excellent pass rush. Expect to see both Browne and Darnold in Jerry World.

4. GEORGIA
Contenders: Jacob Eason (freshman), Greyson Lambert(redshirt senior), Brice Ramsey (redshirt junior)
Leader: Lambert
Even after a strong showing this spring for Eason, first-year coach Kirby Smart has made it clear he isn’t going to rush the freshman into action.
The setup isn’t dissimilar to when Clemson opted to start veteran Cole Stoudt early in the 2014 season while freshman Deshaun Watson got his bearings. Watson won the job by October, and he blossomed into a star.
So, if Lambert is the starter against North Carolina to open the year, do not assume that will remain the case throughout the season. Georgia coaches, including Smart, have said Eason’s talent shined at times this spring. He’s easily the most talented option on the roster, but he still has a lot to learn. When he’s learned enough to proficiently operate the offense, that’s when you’ll see him behind center. Perhaps the Oct. 1 home game against Tennessee would be a proper time for Eason's debut.

5. MICHIGAN
Contenders: Shane Morris (redshirt junior), John O’Korn (redshirt junior), Wilton Speight (redshirt sophomore)
Leader: Speight
Count Speight among the biggest surprises of the spring. In the span of about a month, the 6-foot-6, 239-pound QB went from fringe candidate to a legitimate threat to start the Sept. 3 opener against Hawaii.
What led to the change? For one, it’s his first healthy spring since Jim Harbaugh arrived. (He had a leg injury last spring.) Also, those who have watched the Wolverines’ practices say Speight has been the more poised, consistent option.
O’Korn, the prohibitive favorite entering the spring, reportedly struggled some during 7-on-7 and team sessions. Turnovers have become a particular concern, one that will thwart O’Korn’s candidacy if the interceptions persist during preseason camp.
Game experience will surely have some value in this battle. As a freshman at Houston in 2013, O’Korn threw for more than 3,000 yards and tossed 28 touchdowns.
To his credit, Speight did come off the bench to throw the game-winning touchdown last season at Minnesota. He’s definitely a name to know exiting spring.

6. AUBURN
Contenders: John Franklin III (junior), Jeremy Johnson(senior), Sean White (redshirt sophomore)
Leader: White
Those close to the program say White had by far the steadiest spring of the bunch.
Opposing coaches recognize he was thrown into a tricky situation last season, when he took over amid Johnson’s much-publicized struggles. So they say do not go overboard in critiquing his 1:4 touchdown to interception rate in his seven games as a redshirt freshman.
Knowing what to expect as a sophomore and having gained valuable experience, there’s an expectation White can become an above-average option this fall for coach Gus Malzahn and coordinator Rhett Lashlee. Additionally, Franklin’s running ability -- à la former Tigers QB Nick Marshall -- is valuable enough that Malzahn and Lashlee will almost certainly involve him in the game plan.

7. FLORIDA STATE
Contenders: J.J. Cosentino (redshirt sophomore), Deondre Francois (redshirt freshman), Malik Henry (freshman), Sean Maguire (redshirt senior)
Leader: Francois
Coach Jimbo Fisher recently said that, with Maguire sidelined, Francois made strides this spring. In his second year in the system, he appears to be in the lead.
“I was really proud of him,” Fisher said. “Everyone talks about his statistics, his numbers, but (I liked the way) he’s managing the game. He got the guys to feel comfortable around him. He was making the right checks, making the right calls. I’m very pleased and proud of where he’s at in that regard.”
Fisher then mentioned Henry, the No. 2 dual-threat prospect in the 2016 class. He said earlier in the spring Henry has a “tremendous chance” to start as a freshman. Fisher also has not ruled out Maguire, who has played some each of the past two seasons.
“Everybody will be given a fair opportunity,” Fisher said.

8. TEXAS
Contenders: Shane Buechele (freshman), Jerrod Heard(redshirt sophomore), Tyrone Swoopes (senior)
Leader: Buechele
Really, it would come as a surprise if Buechele is not the starter Week 1 vs. Notre Dame.
“You know what you have in the other guys,” one Power 5 assistant said this spring, referring to Heard and Swoopes.
To counter that, there is a new coordinator (Sterlin Gilbert) and a new system. So perhaps Heard and Swoopes could show something, given that change. But Buechele had a strong enough spring to make believers out of the beleaguered Longhorns fans.
His grit and athleticism have already elicited a number of Colt McCoy comparisons. They’ll only increase if he has any success in the new offense.

9. FLORIDA
Contenders: Austin Appleby (redshirt senior), Luke Del Rio(redshirt sophomore), Feleipe Franks (freshman), Kyle Trask (freshman)
Leader: Del Rio
Coach Jim McElwain insists it’s still open between Appleby and Del Rio, but those close to the program say Del Rio is close to locking down the job. They say the year spent in the offensive system is a huge bonus for Del Rio, who transferred from Oregon State and sat out last fall. Appleby, with whom Del Rio split first-team snaps in the spring, is a graduate transfer from Purdue. He arrived in January.
Trask showed off a big arm this spring, but it’s unlikely he’s ready for the starting role. He’ll duel with Franks down the road. Their development is key for stabilizing the future of the position, which has been nothing but turbulent since the end of Urban Meyer’s tenure.

10. STANFORD
Contenders: Ryan Burns (redshirt junior), Keller Chryst (redshirt sophomore), K.J. Costello (freshman)
Leader: Chryst
Chryst served as the primary backup to Kevin Hogan a year ago, making him the presumptive favorite entering the spring. But those close to the Cardinal say Burns’ steady spring closed that gap significantly. Coach David Shaw has not indicated whether there is a clear leader.
Both Burns and Chryst have similar size and games. This race will come down to who performs more efficiently in preseason camp, though most opposing coaches still expect Chryst to win the job based on game experience.

hmm....not sure where those 5 cuse wins could possibly come from to lost that bet. the tossup games are all on the road at uconn, at bc, at wake. they will beat colgate but the only other team they can beat is USF at home. for you to lose that under bet they would have to sweep the table with the 5 possible wins...no chance that happens IMO
