New York Spot Price? Last Trading Day of 2011?

The GCZ11 stops trading the 3rd to last day of the year. You could use that as a starting point.

why enter a contest when you can do it for real?

if you are trying to win a contest your best chance to win is
by guessing an outrageous number either way above or
below today's prices.

Prices have been declining slightly of late which indicates the manipulators are in a buying mood. It will probably decline more in the next 3 weeks then rise a lil the last 2 weeks of the trading year. So its 1721 and 31.80 today. ill guess 1705 and 31.20 for the end of yr.

This market is so rigged that its up to the manipulators (Euro bankers) to decide the price and they can make it do anything they want so really pulling numbers out of a hat could be as good a guess as any...

agree, if you can choose late and see the picks of other people in the contest....a ploy often used in contests for sports handicapping contests. If the picks are blind it is hard to be highest or lowest.

realistically I think

$1800 ( AU)

and

$35 ( AG)

manipulation is certainly there, see the Hunt Brothers in the the 1980 run-up of AG to $50.

Gold is a pretty strange item too ! It ( most of it) basically sits in vaults ( like Fort Knox) and other places for basically forever without ever being needed for anything really important.... otherwise it would be used for something beyond symbolic wedding rings and trace amounts in high-end electronics.

Maybe 68.45 % ( I made that up) of the world's gold is in Ft Knox just stored for nothing like a hoarder with 43 cats and a pathway to to toilet amid a houseful of crap.

If it just sits there forever, it ain't that useful !

If Captain Kirk and the Enterprise beamed up all the gold out of Fort knox, how would life on Earth be altered ?

It just sits there doing nothing anyway....if it even is there ?

Any idea how much? The biggest one is the size of a quarter pretty much (plus the back piece thing adds more weight than a quarter). Just trying to get a rough idea if I should go pawn these suckers or if it's not worth the trip.

I have no bearing on how much a gram weighs with something this light...

Yes, worth the trip, just don't get ripped off, some buyers only pay 5-10% of what it is worth.

Cocaine> 14k gold jewelry> really great marijuanna.

I will find you a legit buyer in Boise, Jake.

You likely have at least a few hundred bucks there, maybe 4 figures ?

a nickel weighs 5 grams for comparison.

so you could like put the gold in your left hand and the nickels in your right hand and sort of guess that way short of a scale.

even if it is only a gram, its $30 or so.

Thanks for the help Doug. Nothing is much heavier than a nickel but I got these things for free from a trash box I was cleaning out so profit is profit. I didn't even realize they were all 14K at the time... just thought they looked cool. One has what looks like a ruby in it so I'll cross my fingers it's real. That one was a commemorative pin from Micron it looks like.

Jake: lets not hijack this thread anymore, I started a new one.

The Ruby is 99.99 % for sure red glass, you don't set a ruby in 14k gold ( 24k is pure).

I will guide you into getting a proper value for this stuff.

that's cool, Dante ! I'm not trying to rip the kid off, just want him to be paid correctly for what he lucked into....it was never going to pass through my hands as a middleman.

I will quote a price ( not an offer) from my local for comparison, he quotes in dwt ( pennyweights), which is more standard for the industry, but the conversion is simple.
