So I'm leaving for Vegas tomorrow. I will be out there thursday to monday. First time ever going, infact first time on a airplane as well. Anyone have any advice or suggestions. Any free shows or loose slot machines? Any tips on what not to do. We already have a party planned on saturday night where we get picked up by a limo and it takes us to three clubs where we get in for free and all we can drink in the limo. Also plan to stop by the pawn shop from the hit tv show pawn stars. Maybe get a beer with chum lee.
Congrats man...I am jealous as all hell. Wish I could be there too. The Pawn Stars thing will be crowded as shit...expect to wait in a long, long line and be hustled through the store like cattle - you probably will not see anyone from the show either...sorry. If you guys want a good show to go see that is reasonably priced check out Carrot Top - trust me on this one, he is funny as hell and can be found at the Luxor. If you aren't on too tight of a budget, splurge for dinner @ Prime at the Bellagio - one of the best meals I have had and I have eaten in fine establishments all over the country. We are staying at Harrah's. We got free rooms from going to atlantic city so much and building up our comps. When my ex gf went a few months ago she saved me a bunch of coupons for a free drink here and there and other similar deals but my friend says they basically hand them out to everyone.
I see. Biggest piece of advice I can give you then is don't get overwhelmed. You cannot and will not be able to do everything you want to do on this one trip. Take in everything you can and just have a good time - it is possible to get so busy trying to do different shit that you basically spend the whole time exhausted and tired from running place to place - this is especially true if you trying to jump from the Strip to downtown and vice versa. I would recommend skipping downtown altogether your first time unless you are going for a week or so - there will be PLENTY on the strip.
ASJ - I agree re: Carrot Top - he is crazy funny.
As for food, I think Picasso in Bellagio (right across from Prime) is one of the top 3 restaurants in the whole US (Picasso, Victoria & Albert and Nobu are my top 3). Don't get me wrong, Prime is a great, great steak-house, but I put the French Food that Julian Serrano serves above just about everything out there. The poached Oysters are the best food I've ever eaten. The place is amazing.
Other joint to go is Hugo's Cellar - located in the 4 Queens Hotel on Freemont Street in the downtown area (glitter gulch). Great food and the wine steward (Jon) is one of the best in the world. Old style steak house and the Filet done Oscar style (with lump crab meat and a bernaise sauce) is out of this world. After dinner at Hugo's you can watch the Freemont Street Experience (for first timers, they closed Freemont Street to traffic and put up a canopy that's a light display).
Well it was a blast. Never did i make it to the pawn stars store but from what i heard the main guys only work when they are filming the show and you have to wait in line just to get in. As for the trip well lets see...
When ended up getting free passes to the strip club Sapphire's. They came and picked us up in the party bus a Fremont street and took us there. When we got in we used a bunch of free drink coupons only to have them take a 100 dollars off and tell us it was cheaper just to get a 250 dollar bottle of skyy vodka. Since there was about of seven of us we said ok. Then we got to our seats and within minutes were swarmed by women. They have about 300 working at any given time or so the driver told us. We all eventually each got 20 dollar lap dances right there in the main room. My one friend who was out for his 21st birthday had gotten taken to the back for what seemed like hours only to come out around 2:30 am and inform us that he had spent around 700 dollars back there! He said he had to buy two drinks and god knows what else and that she did eventually take off her bottoms which no girls out in the main room did. Was very disappointed that they weren't fully nude. I mean this is vegas for christ sakes. The best part was when i finally caved and let a girl give me a lap dance for 20 dollars only to realize the next day she had gotten period blood on my jeans! yes you that read right, period blood. It was the joke the rest of our trip but i was able to get the blood out of my jeans with some oxiclean and going through the washer. Most everyone said to throw them away but i am far to cheap plus i like em. Since my friend spent so much damn money in the back room we atleast got a free ride back to our casino.
Another night we ended up going to Kahunaville at Treasure Island and that was a fucking blast. They made these drinks that actually smoked. ( see picture below) after that we took a party bus that took us to the clubs Haze at Aria. Then to LAX at The Luxor. Finally going to Pure at Caesars. I was so drunk and tired that i never did make it into pure but from what i heard it was packed much like lax was.
Also went to a place right outside on the strip called Rockhouse. They had these awesome frozen drinks in a giant cup for 23 bucks which you could get refilled for 11. I actually ended up getting thrown out of the place. Was just talking to a girl from LA for awhile with friends when one of the bouncers came up and said "Back up from the bar or get the fuck out" Well being kind drunk and confused i backed about a foot and said "Is this good?" to which he replied "get the fuck out." He then tapped my friend on the shoulder and said "you gotta leave, your friend is getting thrown out." I still to this moment don't understand why i got thrown out.
The rest of trip basically involved walking around everywhere, losing money in poker, going to a shitload of casinos and eating mcdonalds and pizza. Plus i only spent around 500 dollars for everything. Best vacation i ever been on and we are already planning on going back. I would advise anyone who hasn't been to go. Simply awesome. There is so much more to do then gambling and i barely scratched the surface.
