HEY YA ALL I'VE BEEN TO VEGAS ONE TIME PREVIOUS 5 YEARS AGO DURING CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK. THIS TIME I AM GOING DURING THE 1ST AND 2ND ROUNDS OF NCAA TOURNEY. THE 1ST TIME THEIR I SPENT ALOT OF TIME AT CAESARS PALACE. I WAS WONDERING WHERE THE BEST PLACE FOR ATMOSPHERE IS DURING THIS TIME OF YEAR. I HAD CHILLS RUNNING DOWN MY SPINE AT TIMES DURING THE GAMES AT CAESARS. PLEASE GIVE SUGGESTIONS ON WHERE TO WATCH GAMES, AS MY BUDDY AND I ARE STAYING AT THE STRATOSHERE AND WE KIND OF GET THE NOTION THAT THIS ISNT ONE OF THE BEST PLACES TO WATCH FOR ATMOSPHERE. THANKS ALOT.

been to vegas probably 10 times in the past 2 years. stay away from new york, riveria, imperial palace, flamingo, and place in the old down town; all to small, not enough tv's, ect.

mgm and caesors has a sweet place, but you have to get there early to get a table, drinks are high, and not enough servers, crowded to place bets. if you do go there and it gets busy, place your bets in the horse area right next to it. everyone thinks you have to get in line with the sports area. you'll understand when you see it.

the best is excalibur, drinks are free as long as you tip-usually a buck. just have all your bets out so she knows you are betting. if you go up to the bar to get a drink, you'll pay.

we just got back from vegas for the superbowl and was turned onto a place called the green valley resort, it's out of town about 5 or 10 minutes-10 dollar cab ride. the sports book was fuc___g killer. tv's and seats every where.

good luck and don't let the cabbie's take you on the highway, or through the tunnel. stay on the the strip or the road == to it. you can get a bus ticket for 5 bucks a day- its the best thing to do. two buses-one stops at every stop, on stops at like 6 diff stops along the strip.

gracie: just got done looking at the green valley ranch on the net. looks like a great place. we are renting a car while we are there. we looked into it and had decided that we were better off to rent a car for 16 bucks a day. thanks for the info.i appreciate it.

I dont know how it is now, since the last time I went, but I liked the Stardust Hotels Sportsbook wide open and plenty of seats with alot of screens. Good atmoshere to talk and go over plays with others. Only one time I spent the entire day at a sportsbook area. It felt like I was there only one hour, but when I looked outside, the sun was down and it had been over 8 hours that I was betting and watching the games. Now that to me is a comfortable atmoshpere, where time just passes by like a stranger in the night. LOL. Still, like I mentioned I dont know how or if it changed, but that was my best experience so far in a Vegas Sportsbook betting BB for the day. GL and Aloha CC.

I will be there during the first two weeks of the tournament as well. There are a lot of excellent sportsbooks for viewing the games. It depends on what you like. I would be remiss if I didn't tell you that the Stardust, which is where the line opens, is a very active environment geared for the NCAA tournament. If you like a lot of people being around and actively participating together in one event, you can feel it at the Stardust. That being said, there are many other excellent books with good seating and large screens and everything else you'll need. If you can explain the type of atmosphere you like, I'm sure there are many on this forum, myself included, that can give you some hints on what books might suit your needs for an enjoyable tournament stay.

Try out the Paris, they open up their showroom and have four MONSTER televisions on the stage. Also they have betting right outside the theater with a fast moving line. Very , very comfortable, great viewing and easy access to betting. You will have go outside to the concession stand for beverages and snacks, but it is one of the best places in town to see the game.

other side of town vs VRS, but the Suncoast has one of the best sportbook in LV, high limits on all games, O/U lines, as halfes as well. great value for the $$$ and they provide free trans to and from the airport, as well as a free shuttle to their other properties including town town.

Mightyvol-I was down there last year for opening round. Stayed at harrahs, great atmosphere for the games. At night they have the best outside bar around. It was like Cocktails man. Guys flipping bottles landing on their chins, great bands music. Check it out loaded with women. Best bar I've been to in a while, loads of fun man! They even had blackjack tables set up next to it so you could play cards also.

MightyVol,

I am heading down the same weekend -- getting in Wednesday night and the plan is to play cards (hold em) or hit the Crazyhorse all night until daybreak -- then heading to the golf course for a drunken round of stick and then back to the strip for a day of hoops...

I am heading down with a number of others (about 10 all together -- all in our early 30s and pretty much drunken, drugged and gambling degenerates) -- may have an extra spot for golf if your into that kind of thing -- if so, give me a shout at mtheine@yahoo.com -- just thought I would throw it out and if you don't play or not interested, no worries at all.

We have to post something here the week of the tourney and see how many rx'ers are going to be in town.

Can't friggin wait...

That will be the one weekend I am OUT of town. Lucky enough to get paid vacation off and sneak out of town, while you March Madnessers come in and go nuts. I'm going to see my new nephew and incdoctrinate him to the crze called March Madness.
Do give the Paris some thought, I don't think you'll be disappointed with their setup.

One of the better places to be is AT one of the actual tournament sites. I was in Memphis for the 2001 tourney, blew my mind to watch Gonzaga beat virginia by 1 point in the last few secs of the game (won that one) and Watch Indiana St beat Oklahoma in OT basically 2 hours later, but on the same court! (lost that one). What a fun day, and that was only half of it LOL

Guys. this is awesome. i am getting soo jacked for this. like i said the last time i was there was during championship week 5 years ago. lamar odom was a fr. or soph. at rhode island and put on a show for all of us at caesars. the thing that i remember most of all was the jumpin and jubilation that went on after some of these barn burners. i cant wait. sounds like its gonna be a party. sounds like i have to try and hit stardust, harrahs, green valley and paris. all the more ideas and replys are welcome. i want this to be one of the best times of my life. march madness is coming baby, cant you feel it?

Other sportsbooks with quality viewing and all around the vicinity of Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard (i.e. The Strip) are Bellagio, Mirage and Treasure Island. Paris has been mentioned already. As you can tell from fellow posters, there is much to see, so don't plan on getting any sleep. Do a quick run then settle in for a great event. Good luck to you.

I like Ballys or anyplace where you get a personal tv. I hate crowds and smoke. My favorite spot was Desert Inn, they had great chairs and no crowds.
