Week 14 in the NFL, there were a total of 46 attempts to convert a 4th down of which 19 were successful. Carolina led the way going 1-7 followed closely by the Chargers at 1-6. Only the Rams/Ravens game did not try a 4th down attempt

It sure turned out that way with so many bone-headed decisions across quite a few teams from Lions, Vikings, Raiders, Carolina, Saints, etc. Even Harbaugh of the Ravens made a few questionable calls late, luckily he was bailed out in OT by that big TD.

Some of the medium and bigger spreads can get impacted. Teams maybe getting 7 or more points may be losing by 1 or more scores and start going for it late in their own territory where they don't get it and front door covers happen. Much like hockey where teams are more willing to pull goalies earlyier and earlier where as before they would stick to under 1 minute.

Other than the line was 2.5, fishy. I think coaches are taking the chicken shit approach where there is no accountability. Why did you go for it? Analytics told me to.

I feel as if the fans that believe the coaches explanations are being suckered. Coaching isn't rocket science.

We can do math, we can figure out the clock management part and the logic behind percentage of scoring a TD over a FG.

I rarely trust anything these coaches say and laugh most of it off as their stupidity. Nobody challenges them on their decisions and that's where the breakdown is. It's like watching a magician and constantly being amazed, knowing it's not real, but never asking how it was done.
