I bet 60 into a 100 pot with top pair, gut shot calls and hits. After the hand i call him out on it and the whole table defends him.

Why wouldnt he call 60?

Because it's 60% of the pot and he has a gut shot.

I get that people play like morons but why do they feel the need to justify playing like morons.

Cash game-terrible call. Tournament-he may have been looking at an opportunity to bust you if he hit and could afford 60 chips.

Of course the table's gonna defend him. They're not gonna let you chase a fish away. They want him to stay and keep making those bets. By you "teaching" him, you do one of two things: either piss him off enough so he leaves, or not make that play again cause he doesn't wanna get called out. I would've defended him too. It was a bad call, but you want him to stick around and keep making those calls.

BTW, this is assuming it was a cash game.

They're his cards, and it's his money. He can play them however he wants.

Why in the world you or anyone would ever call out a bad player you're playing with is one of the mysteries of life I still haven't figured out.
