PPP, the govt has been propping up the farmers for decades and it dosent say anything about that in the constitution matter of fact the constitution dosent say anything about what form of economic system we have.

Yep. Same goes for the military industry. Try closing down a military base either local or international. Performance wise over the last 40 years, you might argue that our military beats out GM by only a grey old union worker/ military pensioner whisker. Major problem is that our military leaches out 490 billion tax payer money each and every year while we bite nails over the few billion effort this year to try and slow the demise of GM on local communities. Obviously there are tons of side issues including fact that US manufacturers carry extra weight against foreign manufacturers which enjoy the competitive cost benefits of a single payer national health system (this the reason that US industry supports single payer health care reform). GM built many terrific cars. In the day, the Apple II e was a great computer. Apple evolved. GM, our military, and our health care system better double step onto the evolution carpet else face the fail.

You are wrong when it comes to the military. Hell back in the old days of war it was who had the most people . Now with the advancement of technology the military can do so much more damage with less troops.

You think the UAW will want to go to the "new" health care system that will get set up. You are fooling yourself. These union old entitles farts will want the best top notch coverage out there and that isn't with the government.

The governments job #1 is to protect this country. And that means military not having control of a corporation. Just let this beast go and let another company replace them.

Not sure if thats true or not but if it is the reason it is not mentioned is because we have a FREE MARKET economy and each and every govt regulation and tax hinders that free market....And Govt involvement directly in the organization and mgmt of same is a sure fire recipe of destruction....

That an opinion. The fastest growing economy in the world is a modified communist one.

I don't agree with this either. How stupid and what a racket this is. No where in the constitution of home ownership either. Let these companies fail like they should. All we are doing is paying the UAW with our tax money.

In one of my rare sentimental moments this morning, I ponderd what if all the money used in the "bailouts" had been distibuted in other areas of society. Could the medical field have found the cure for cancer with the extra funding? Think about how many children from broken homes would have a Christmas this year. How many homeless Vets would benefit and would start to make ammends to after all the indignant actions and attitudes of years past from certain sectors of the American public. How many computers and school supplies would it have bought for education in some of our poorer states down South and for education across the board. These were just some of the areas I thought about if we lived in a perfect world. Just a shame to be so squanderous and really nobody benefits.
