First I'd like to say thank you,
Hope you didn't hang with me today....I got hammered, but good. No worries though its the start of dirt season and some of the Euro guys that were so-so last year have skipped the last few hard court tourneys and have improved more than I thought. Next week in Monaco should be better as I will have a better idea where some of the players stand.
The rain delay cost me with the girls in Florida...the way I make some decisions on matches is on a "player that day versus a player that day" instead of the rankings. The head to heads don't mean that much to me as much as the surface and a players momentum..... this is especially true with the girls.
Yes I do know a few players, but I know more coaches...I grew up on the courts in Florida and played the junior curcuit all over the US before going to Florida State on a full ride. I tried the satellites and challengers for a while but never could break the top 200...if you don't do that you need a job. I taught for several years and loved it but I broke my arm water skiing at night many years ago and now I'm just an average "A" player. I keep in touch with lots of old tennis freinds as it is a small family really. I try an go to several tournaments in the states and I attend a few ATP and USTA dinners when possible. I know the WTA best as I have dated a few of them over the years and still keep up with them when time permits...no I want mention names.
As far as fading late rounds I tend to do that a bit...it depends on some of the intangibles. Look for my prop plays in the semis and finals - I only make them when I am really confident of the result....but that said I did get surprised by the Agassi-Federer match in Miami, I thought for sure AA would win a set and I'm not so sure he wouldn't have had it not been for that bimbo linesperson on the baseline....and the center line calls were shaky. Agassi lost two calls that would have changed the second set..one on a break point in the second game and another in the fifth game.
Anyway, Thanks for the kind words...I hope to hear your last sentence more often...LOL...if your lucky.
