God I hate my record. Can't complain about the profit though. Although, I am going to stop being a fucking idiot square, be more selective, and size my bets correctly.

I haven't looked at the game yet. When I go into it I may find that I don't like it and take BC at maybe +6 and hope for a middle. Will track this one carefully and look into it a bit. I just started going down the line.

Agree with Cuse. I don't see how Cuse makes it out as a no play.

Michigan State @ Penn State
Line: +4.5

This is a tricky game at first glance. However, when taking a closer look I found that Michigan State -4.5 is actually a good play in my mind. The thing in this game that makes me want to play the chalk on the road is that it is Michigan State. Tom Izzo has proved over the years that he can win anywhere and Michigan State has the style to take crowds out of it in a hurry. All the kids are back at Penn State so that should be a very nice crowd however look at what Michigan State has accomplished on the road already this year. They already won by 11 @ Northwestern, 12 @ Minnesota, and 4 in Texas. Not to mention since the UNC game they have been on an absolute roll. They have responded in the right way to that loss motivated to prove they are not nearly as bad as they showed and I’m sure Izzo played a large part in getting these kids fired up after the loss. Since the loss they have won every game by double digits except the game in Texas and they have beaten some respectable opponents. Teams like Kansas, Ohio State, Northwestern, Minnesota, Texas, and Bradley have all fallen during this 9 game winning streak.

A lot of the winning steak has to do with Kalin Lucas. He has played very well shooting 12/18 from 3 point land in his last 5 games, averaged 20.8 ppg in his last 4 games, and won the Big Ten Player of the Week award last week. It also didn’t hurt to get Raymar Morgan back. However, Penn State will counter that with Talor Battle, the Big Tens leading scorer. The Spartans have won 25 of 29 all time vs. Penn State however Penn State is in an up year. The Nittany Lions are 8-0 when Battle scores over 20 points and 5-4 when he doesn’t. In 2 meetings last year combined Battle totaled 23 points against Michigan State.

Aside from Battle, they don’t have much that Michigan State can’t handle. They don’t win games when they get out rebounded and that is one thing that I think they will struggle with big time tomorrow night. Only one team out-rebounded Michigan State during this 9 game win streak and that was Texas. Other then Texas, no other team has come within 8 boards of the Spartans. If Penn State loses the battle of the boards tomorrow they will get smoked with out a Meeks-like performance from Battle.

I think Michigan State will control the glass and contain Battle and Michigan State rolls on the road.

totally agree with this GD. Also Penn State better hope the students turn out in HUGE numbers b/c when I took Penn State a few weeks back in their cover against Purdue I noticed the home crowd was virtually non-existent. Now yes the students were out of town, but still a legit fan base will pack an arena with or without the student body being in town. Michigan State will hardly be bothered by the whatever crowd Penn State throws out there. They've played in MUCH more hostile buildings. All the more reason why this might be one of those rare times where laying in conference road chalk is the play.

I agree and tomorrow when I wake up I will check with the Penn State students to see if thier is going to be a big turnout or if they really don't care.

Yes, Michigan State and any Tom Izzo team can win pretty much anywhere.

How do you find out if the Students will be there? Since they come back at different times at different schools.

Definitely will be riding Michigan State with you I think they will definitely cover. Tom Izzo is the man.

Enjoyed the writeup to solidify my bet.

Also like Syracuse but I think I need to do some more research. Syracuses' PPG is pretty hard to bet against even if Georgetown has a good defense.

But a good offense far surpasses a good defense in basketball.

I know about 6 guys at Penn State. Some have been thier since 2 Saturdays ago, some went last Saturday. I will ask what it is like around thier and what kind of atmosphere thier is regarding this game when they wake up tomorrow.

I tend to disagree. I would rather have the good defense to get those crucial stops. The thing is Georgetown has given up 90 to Tenn and 70+ to ND, Prov, Pitt, and Memphis. They miss Hibbert inside on defense.

Syracuse @ Georgetown

How do you go out and lay this chalk on Georgetown? You got to be out of your fucking mind however, I see even action on Georgetown right now and when I ask around off the forum I am getting a few Georgetown backers. I can’t believe it.

Let me start with this. Georgetown is VERY overrated. They started the season unranked (where they belong) and now somehow are supposed to be some sort of powerhouse ranked in the top 15. Rankings mean nothing to me but it just shows how overrated they are. I mean look at these ridiculous lines they have got handed to them; 1 point dogs @ ND where ND has won over 45 in a row and giving 3.5 to Pitt. I cashed them both. Georgetown is a very good fade. Lines are based on public perception and people are dead wrong about this team. What have they done to earn respect? They open the season unranked and with expectations of finishing middle of the pack in the Big East. I think that is correct. Georgetown is the 6th best team in the Big East. But now apparently their resume is so good they are being picked to finish in like the top 3 or 4. Syracuse, Uconn, Pitt, ND, and Louisville are all miles better then Georgetown and Marquette they would contend with. They lost to Tennessee, Pitt, and ND. They beat a down Memphis team that would finish 8th in the Big East and a Uconn on the road. Okay, Uconn good win but this is what makes them a contender? Absolutely ridiculous.

Syracuse has won 8 of the last 10 against Georgetown including 5 covers as dogs and 4 outright wins as dogs. Cuse is one miracle buzzer beater away from being undefeated yet gets zero credit outside of this forum. Hell, they get no credit inside this forum either. I don’t see why though. They are not overachieving. They have the best PG in the nation with Flynn, Paul Harris who can go off on a given night, and Onuaku who keeps improving and I really like his inside game. This is all without Eric Devendorf who somehow managed to escape that whole mess with 2 missed games. One of them was actually a blow out @ Memphis. Since returning he has shot 53% from the filed and 60% from beyond the arc.

Also someone please tell me who is going to guard Jonny Flynn? Last year he went for 24 and 17 points vs. Georgetown and that’s was with Roy Hibbert in the paint. Now there is no one there other then Monroe who is no Roy Hibbert on defense. Yes, the guy can score but Flynn will be able to blow by anyone guarding him and get to the bucket.

Georgetown also has a well balanced offense with guys like Monroe, Summers, and Sapp but they just don’t have that guy that will always get you the bucket you need. Summers is the closest thing to that but he doesn’t have the impact on a game that a guy like Flynn or Devendorf do when they are playing well.

All in all this line is to good to pass up and I am adding 1 unit to Syracuse +6.5 making it 4 units total.

Syracuse +6.5 (4 Units)

Trust me a good defense is crucial for a run deep in the tournament let alone the NBA. I have seen too many defenses just get torched by solid offenses. I haven't gotten a chance to watch Georgetown this year but correct me if I'm wrong but they played a slow tempo defensive basketball. Pretty much how Wisconsin plays.

I do know whenever Wisconsin plays a high powered offense such as Syracuse they get toasted despite being one of the top teams defensively year in and year out under Bo Ryan.

Gimmie, it seems that BC and Gtown are similar in that their ONE win, (against the #1 and #2 respectively), is continually given way to much credit. Georgetown shot out of their minds in the first half against Uconn.

Actually, since Hibbert isn't thier to slow them down they have alternated the pace this year. They can play fast and slow. They have played fast quite a bit this year. This aint your fathers Georgetown.

But, I definitley want a good defense. Defense beats offense anyday. The problem is not many teams play good defense in the power conferences nowadays.

Yes, I agree. Both teams are really nothing special. BC is not very good and caught UNC on an off night. Other then that who have they beat? Amazing the credibility these teams get. BC was even ranked #24 for a week after beating UNC. What did they do? They lost at home to both Harvard and Miami.

Guys beware on WVU. I had this as a strong lean but something interesting: Marshall has 3 outright wins in the past 4 years @ WVU as double digit dogs. Once as high as +16. Very odd, can't really put my finger on why.

Can't back Marshall as this is a statement game for WVU. Big East teams can't afford to be losing to bad non conference teams because they will be beating on each other the rest of the year.

Also, I will be playing Duke/Georgia Tech Under if I can get a number over 134, which I think will happen.

Will write it up if I can get the number tomorrow.

You will be playing the Under if it is over 134? Did I read that right?

This total will be around 147 imo.
