I am glad someone else is making this point because I have bit my tongue on Arenas in a lot of conversation with friends. It just isn't worth the long argument that will ensue when I try and make a few of these points.

Keeping everyone involved on the offensive end has a lot of benefits that don't show up in the box score. When guys don't even get to touch the ball on the offensive end, there are a lot of negative consequences.

He is a great scorer and very exciting player...but until he matures and starts making the players around him better and benefit from his abilities, he will just be a player racking up nice scoring stats but never going deep into the playoffs.

The Wizards are really coming though, in the East there are very few running teams, they have to run though , with the team they have...Butler is close to being a AllStar IMO....one huge problem with Washington and the Arenas argument being made here, they really don't have a low post player, which will kill them until one either develops or they trade for one...you have to consider that when you talk about Arenas not passing as much as he should.

If Haywood could only keep playing like he did tonight , but it was a wide open type game, Haywood can't play like this against the really tough defensive teams with giant big men like Yao or Duncan.

They need a center.

Arenas passes more often than what people got to see tonight. He really didn't look to pass at all, and he definitely goes through stretches where he doesn't think about his teammates, but he's not near the ballhog people make him out to be.

I can understand why people would feel that way based on tonight's game, though.

The Wizards, meanwhile, will never a true contender until they get someone who can score consistently on the block. I don't care if he doesn't play a shred of D; they just need someone to alleviate some of the pressure on their shooters.

Having said that...GO WIZARDS

I just think its funny that a Suns fan would use someone defensive skills as an issue when Nash is the biggest defensive liabilty on the floor.

I am not hating on Nash as I think he is the best PG in the game. But very humerous to have a Suns fan put GA down for that...

I said Gilbert didn't need to play defense to be MVP, but he had to do something else than just shoot. Either he becomes a defensive stopper or he becomes a real teammate. Which will it be?

What's the definition of MVP anyway?

Is it just me because i don't put much attentions to the regular season stats. Playoffs are a whole different ball game, you have to be effective on both sides of the court, therefore I think the MVP should be awarded to the player on the Championship team, Dywane Wade was my last year MVP. Tim Duncan, Chauncey Billups, Tim Duncan, O'neal, O'neal, O'neal. etc.

The problem is, the regulation season MVP seems to have more recognitions than the Championship MVP.

Arenas is only an exciting player, Butler is more valuable than Arenas.

In Baseball, I had the same problem with Ryan Howard over Pujols.

Let's talk about efficiency

NBA Efficiency Rating = ((Points + Rebounds + Assists + Blocked Shots + Steals) - ((Field Goals Attempted - Field Goals Made) + (Free Throws Attempted - Free Thows Made) + Turnovers))

Arenas Rating = 24.9 12th Ranked in League

Nash Rating = 25.3 8th Ranked in League

It appears that Arenas is not far off from the Leagues MVP, who I agree is the best all around player in the league.

Just thought I would back up this argument with some facts.

Do you have efficiency vs league's top 8? (Jazz, Lakers, Spurs, Suns, Heat, Magic/Nuggets, Mavs and Rockets) You know, when it matters

To me MVP means - the player gives his chance the best opportunity to win the championship - Gilbert Arenas does not show on the radar here - playing like they have been playing this year - it goes:

a) Yao
b) Duncan
c) James
d) Wade/Dirk/Kobe

Of course you need other players - role players - defense, etc. to win it all - but I would bet anything that one of the above players gets a ring each of the next 3 years.
