When getting a check from offshore, does your bank look at you funny when you try to cash it? I have always had a local, and was thinking of going offshore, and I am assuming that would be the way the book would pay is by check, and was just wondering if the check from Costa Rica would send up any red flags at my banking institution.

Thanks for the ear!!@)

ive always wondered why folks do not simply deposit these checks via the ATM, thus avoiding the possibility of an awkward encounter with a front level bank clerk.

I have never had a problem. I use a small local bank and they could care less. They just put a longer hold on it.

You may also want to look into epassporte.com if your book works with them.

I just mail it to the bank (CU), rarely need to go there, and it's 20 miles away. Just keep the amount not too large.

I know when I get my cash-out checks from poker sites, their payment
processors are located in the US or Canada.

My bank's atms recently went to scanners (no more envelopes) and they spit the check back out as they don't accept foreign checks.
