Whats wrong with the Confederate flag?

Some people feel it's a symbol of the Civil War and slavery.

Others feel it is simply a symbol of States' rights and has nothing to do with the War of Northern Aggression which didn't have slavery as one of the reasons the North invaded.

Sometimes I'm so open-minded my brain falls out so just disregard my post.

Georgia isn't anymore backwards than any other state.
What a dumbass thread.
Lets see, man kills cop. Several witnesses testify
that said man did the deed and he is found guilty.
What in the hell is backwards about that.
So he may be the wrong guy, what state hasn't
wrongly convicted a man on witnesses testimony.
Didn't the great state of Illinois just recently
ban the death penalty because the put an innocent
man to death. NOW THATS BACKWARDS, at least the
state of Georgia is letting this convicted man have his
day in the justice system and he had a hearing today.
If he isn't guilty then the truth will hopefully come
out. BUT HE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE FINGER HIM
AND THEY WERE ALL FROM HIS NEIGHBORHOOD.

African Americans run the city of Atlanta and are stealing as much
as they can. It is the "black mecca," ask any brotha.

Well first off, the completely racist state gave him a reprieve tonight, so their must be some basis for potential innocence.

7 of the 9 witnesses have now said they were coerced and recanted their testimony. They can't find one and the other one is the other potential suspect. Three people have said the other person admitted to the murder.

I am all for capital punishment and I am very much against people that murder cops. I have no idea if this guy did it or not, but no law should allow someone to be put to death when the witness testimony he was convicted under has been withdrawn.

Georgia took a big step towards being a modern civilization with equal rights for all races tonight.

It wasn't because an innocent man was put to death, it's because over a span of time (and DNA testing), more death row inmates were actually found to be innocent than had actually been put to death. It was in 2000, and it's a moratorium, not a ban. The system (in Illinois) is obviously flawed. To think it's not in other states makes no sense.

I have been to Atlanta many times. I looked up 2000 census, white 33%, black 61%, other races made up the remaining 6%. Got to be higher now. If you are not used to being the minority it is pretty striking when you are there.
