Everyone is nicked up for the Canes. Now today starting Linebacker Rocky McIntosh is out and middle LB Jon Vilma looks doubtful and definitely won't start. Thats the most guys to be listed on the injury report I have ever seen. Granted its the first week of the season and Coker is prob resting everyone up for Florida next week. We'll see.

Just as long as they're back in time for the Gators. LaTech should be a srimmage. I doubt it matters who they put in there but for the sake of the other starters, you still want to get 1 game under your belt before you play Florida. On the otherhand they get all the preporation they need in pratice. As for the spread, I guess its about right considering LaTech will score some points with McKnown. That and the injuries, plus im sure they will play conservative not trying to give too much away for the Gator scouting report.

Miami better smack the Gators around. Zook as in crook is heading into a nightmare season. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy who lies to every recruit about playing time etc

Big cane fan

also very nervous about the injuries! I hate when we are looking at starting a true freshman opposite Kevin beard at Wideout

I am also nervous if Gore ever goes down, everyone is banged up there and Payton stinks..why they didnt play geathers at rb in the rose bowl when Macgahee went down is still killing me...hopefull everyone will be healed for Sept 6 at the OB!

Go Canes!

If Devin Lester Plays opposite Beard, this kid is lightning in a bottle. Payton isn't bad, Tyrone Moss is exciting player

Chris, I believe Ryan Moore the Redshirt freshman will get the start. Hester will return kickoffs with Sean Taylor. AGreen, the reason they put Payton in in the Fiesta Bowl is because Geathers was converted to a WR when Kevin Beard got injured for the season. But I agree with you!

Florida looks positively bottom of the top 25 this year, with the game at home it should still be winnable for the Canes even with some players out. I think they will suffer a bit though because I don't think this year's DL will be anything close to the last couple of years and that is what made them a great team. If that is down a few notches it won't be that good a season in Coral Gables, but Florida isn't as much of a worry as the rest of the schedule.

Chris I'm impressed how long have you been a Canes Fan? I think the Dline will be alot better than everyone thinks. Santonio Thomas who along with Berlin is a Gator transfer, will start along side Wilfork. Defensive ends is a question mark, but the Canes will do alot of blizting this year with the experienced secondary. Obviously the biggest ? is can Berlin fill Kenny's shoes. The biggest problem though right now is defintely the Kicking game. Coker was quoted saying "We can't win with that" refering to placekicker Mark Gent. Anyone who has followed the Canes know how important placekicking is ala FSU and they need Seivers 5 fgs to beat BC and I believe 4 to beat VT in '01.

1979 saw Jim Kelly play as a Frosh, I agree kicking game is sub-par. Monroe can bomb the ball , so punter is taken care of. Berlin can roll out which gives the canes a new option. Good news is Olsen left ND and is coming to Miami for next season
