Ideally GB would love for Farve to be a good little soldier and a great retired packer. That way they pay him nothing and have the perfect back up in waiting. If Rogers bombs or worse, gets injured they know that within 10 days to 2 weeks Farve could step right in.

Only today Farve is asking to be released or traded.

Trade? No way any offer excedes his worth as the perfect FREE backup.

Release......this is worse then trade.

So the Packers have to dodge a pr landmine and their response basically says Brett you wanted to retire and we granted your wish. If you want reinstatement, write the commish and we'll reinstate you.

Meanwhile GB owns him. Any team contacting him is guilty of tampering.

Can you imagine Farve as a bear? It'd be GB's worst nightmare.

This will be very interesting.

I speak from the point of view as a lifelong packer fan, season ticket holder and owner. You're way off base here. Favre went all in today and now the Packers hold all the cards. They will sit him on the bench until 1) Rodgers gets hurt or until 2) they get properly compensated for a future hall of famer. Favre basically dumped a huge one squarely on packer nation, and the fans are pissed. he could not have handled this with less class. clearly a major shift in attitude has happened today. He retired because he didn't feel the wanted him enough? c'mon, this isn't grammar school.

too bad for football fans everywhere since he was a treat to watch. i doubt he will suit up again for the pack or anyone in the NFL.

Highly doubt that the Packers release him. Highly doubt that Favre plays for the Packers. Highly doubt the Pack would ever trade them to anyone in the NFC North.

I can see Favre in one of 4 unis in no particular order:

1. Jets
2. Ravens
3. Dolphins
4. Skins

Its going to be weird seeing him anywhere other then the Bay

This is really just one big dick ego up against a super star Hall of Famer. I say give the guy what he wants. Welcome him back to the team and let him play a few more years.

Something tells me that Thompson forced Favre to retire at seasons end telling him he'd be wearing a cap and holding a clip board while Rogers fucked their season away this year. So Brett goes before the cameras and cries and says he's done. Now he's just causing Thompson some headaches for being a prick.

I hope Brett plays somewhere and gives Thompson a big F-U!

The ball is in Thompson's court. He'd better hope to high heaven the Pack makes the playoffs this year or the fans will have his ass. The questions and speculation about "what if" will run freely if they miss the playoffs.
