My friends in recovery and I have adopted a mantra with which we all pretty much agree.
The best way to "cure" a cocaine problem?
Give the user ALL he can handle.
See, what happens with 95% of people who use cocaine more than a few times is that they run out - mainly due to the cost and/or ease of access.
And a few days or weeks go by and then they get some more and do it again...maybe even to excess for a couple days. And then they run out.
And this cycle continues for perhaps many months, or even a few years, gradually degrading to where they are using inappropriate times and places and to the disadvantage of their finances.
Heretofore, the most common response then is to say, "You need to STOP using 100%. You need to get into a treatment program and STAY CLEAN...etc"
While this is not neccesarily bad counsel, my friends and I have come to believe that a much quicker way to bring the AB-user to heel is to give them ALL the cocaine they can handle. Eliminate the problems with cost and supply. Make sure they have ALL they want.
Not one would make it more than a few weeks. Six weeks max.
And then they would be crawling forward saying, "NO MORE...." - A 20% or more weight loss....A brain that hasn't slept a full eight hours in weeks. A pecker that hasn't been able to be hard in that same time span...(heh).
The above can best be illustrated by observing the "other side" of cocaine abusers. That is, NOT the JoeRegularGuy who used in the pattern I describe above.
Rather, it is the celebrity, or pro athlete or anyone else who is NOT encumbered by the cost of the cocaine or the availability. They can get as much as they want as often as they want.
And almost always, it's just a few months, maybe a year at most before they are just saying, "FUCK....NO MORE". And thanks to their financial status they're usually able to get into a safe and healthy detox program and they can afford to be "off work" for a couple months, after which they're done. And they don't go back because they learned, hard and fast, how overuse of cocaine is great for a few days, but long term it's just a dead end.
