JOURNEY, Bottom line if GARRETT ANDERSON is playing baseball at 40 (most decent hitters do nowadays). HE WILL have 3,000 hits (FACT). That being said he would be the first 3,000 hit club member not to make the hall (pete rose not included).

He would have to play well past 40 to reach 3000 IMO...certainly a possibilty.

IF he was at 2,800 at the end of year 39 (2,700 os so probably more realistic) he would still need 2 -150 hit seasons at age 40-41.

I was really surprised to see how few times he's walked in his career.

Sorry to be off-topic but I saw a JMan post:

Hey JMan, I am sorry but I have been on vacation, and have very little time to post.

QUESTION: Do I really owe you $50 for Barry Bonds breaking the record? If I do, I will do an account transfer at BetJM when football starts in Sept ... I hope that's ok.

:lolBIG: Nah...you don't owe me, even though you said you'd 'pay me 50 bucks if Barry broke the record' ....I was just having fun bumping that old thread....we're good :103631605

I won't say I told you so but ....:nono5:

Journey I will guaranty that if GA will have 3,000 hits while he is 40 years old. You can have 5 pizza contests on ME if he doesn't.

I remember that Reds team that won the 1961 NL Pennant and faced the mighty 61 Yankees in the World Series. The Yankess won the series 4-1 in games - can you tell me what Red pitcher got the sole win for Cinncinati?

BTW. That was a very good Reds team and they had nothing to be ashamed of losing to the Maris and Mantle led Bronx Bombers in the WS.

I aso remember from TV and baseball magazines only the sloped outfield warning track. Very unique feature that gave Crosley Field some personality. I was never actually at a game played at Crosley.

A little more trivia: More than twenty thousand fans showed up at Crosley Field in Cincinnati on May 24, 1935, to watch the Reds play the Phillies in the first major league night game.

If I said I would pay you, I owe you.

If you want to send me a one line email with your BetJM account number, I will transfer it when I re-up for football.
