I'm no NBA scout by any strech of the imagination, but I think I recognize talent when I see it....Al Jefferson will be a great NBA player...maybe 18-23 points a game with double digit rebounds....what do you think Jibba? Am I overestimating his abilities....

Not really. He'll certainly be right in that area, but he won't be a superstar who can lead a team through the playoffs. There's a reason why everyone in Boston will miss him, but I just wanted to make clear that people who watched him night in and night out don't expect a top 10 player in the league out of him, a category I think KG will still be in for 2-3 more years.

All I can say is that it will be exciting for the Celts fans this year, after what they have been thru...Pierce is getting older and more susceptible to injury...just don't think they will make the playoffs this year...if they do, then Festering Zit will be 500 bucks richer....

I think you've got some serious balls making that bet, as I think they get in easily. Wish I could wish you good luck on that one but . . .

Just a heads up for all you Celtic lovers ! You can get them at 22.5/1 at Oly and I am sure I can find better. Kinda tells you what the real world thinks of their chances !:puppy:

Bodog has 'em at 5-1. Sports.com has them at 10-1. What does that tell us?

Jefferson is vastly overrated. Hard working offensive rebounder, but not overly tall, long, or athletic. He got a lot of garbage last year as they good teams would not be playing as hard as against good teams. They knew they would win anyway. He put up nice numbers on a shit team, but not the type of guy that is going to ever lead a team to the promised land. Plus he is VERY injury prone, which is never a good thing for a young guy to be.

I agree , people are talking about Jefferson like he's the next Derrick Coleman ( get it , lol ? ) .. But seriously , I mean he has some upside but in reality with 3 years under his belt now in the NBA , hes a 10.3 ppg player. Yes , he started playing when he was only 20 and it took him 3 years to get to 16 and 10. But other young guns have come into the league and after 3 years have developed quicker than AJ ...

Jefferson after 3 years in the league , career stats
199 gms 10.3 pts ,6.9 reb ,0.7 assist, 0.5 stls,1.0 blocks, .513 fg , .660 Ft

Garnett after 3 years in the league , career stats
239 gms 15.3 pts, 8.0 reb, 3.1 assist, 1.4 stls , 1.9 Blocks, .494 fg, .737ft

Boozer after 3 years in the league , career stats
207 gms 13.9 pts , 9.0 reb , 1.9 assist , 0.8 stls ,0.6 blks , .526 fg , .744ft

Stoudemire after 3 years in the league , career stats
217 gms, 19.9 pts, 8.9 reb, 1.3 assist, 0.9 stls, 1.4 blks, .511 fg , .708ft

Howard after 3 years in the league , Career stats
246 gms, 15.1 pts, 11.6 reb, 1.5 assist, 0.9 stls, 1.7 Blks, .554 fg, .610ft

Bosh after 3 years in the league , Career stats
226 gms, 16.8 pts, 8.5 reb, 1.8 assist, 0.8 stl , 1.3 blks, .481 fg, .771ft

Randolph after 3 years in the league , Career stats
199 gms , 12.0 pts , 6.0 rebs, 1.1 assists, 0.6 stls, 0.3 blks, .490fg .756ft

Jefferson might be on the verge of superstardom , but compared to these other young power forwards , he's developed slower than the rest.

Tells me that the guys running their futures markets don't know their ass from a hole in the ground and don't want to take a bet. 7 or 8-1 to win the East and 20-1 to win it all sounds about right

If people are going to base their arguments on what the books say, they can't pick and choose, which is exaclty what royalfan was trying to do. I was just pointing out how ridiculous the argument was.

Jibba

I understood what you were saying. My comment was directed at B-Dog and SB prices not you. I just cringe everytime I look at one of their futures markets. There is not one team worth a bet in their entire NBA championship field

I appreciate it and I agree with you. Bodog's price is flat out stupid. And personally, I wouldn't bet the Celts even at the 20-1 price. I'm just sick of the over-the-top bashing.

What was I doing? Not following your picking and choosing comments, and for the record I don't base my opinions of a trade on what a book has a future price at. I just bet the future prices when they offer good value on what my opinion, so not sure what you are talking about exactly.

While I still think Spurs and Suns are the teams to beat and Celts are just the team to beat in the East...I think the is 8-1 to win the east and 20-1 to win it all arguments got settled....

Anyone still think Celts shouldn't of dealt for KG?...Few of you said they wouldn't even make the playoffs....
