I am curious as to how a sportsbook chooses to take the game OFF BOARD?

does CRIS use THIER CLOCK??

and at the Posted 710est time the game is then locked?

My question is, is it automated? therefore they must use the ROTATION times? Or do they just arbitrarily take it off the board?

thanks,

sometimes its automated, but there are humans behind the scenes also.

For example, on a big event like MNF, many books will actually keep the lines open until the ball is kicked off and not close betting with the actual start time, of course this allows all the late straglers to get their bets in

I could certainly see them taking bets even at the kick off on a MNF game,,, I guess I am looking for the protocol for the majority of books, specifically like with baseball games with little or no significance.

ie; clev tonight are at 7.05

Mets go at 7.10

I guess Im just curious in that most baseball games dont really throw out first pitch at 7.05 its usually within 5 mins of it,

thanks SS,,

Not sure about bases, but for football and basketball CRIS was always the last to take the game off the board. Especially with 2nd half numbers in basketball..

I've found that in baseball, most but not all books, tend to take the game off the board at the scheduled starting time, i.e 7:05, 7:10, etc. However, those same books often times will put the game back on the board of a nationally televised game if the starting time is being delayed slightly. No real cut and dry answer. Really depends on which book.

I've had clerks tell me a game is OTB even though I'm watching the SP throw his warm up pitches on TV. Never hurts to ask for a manager in that case....More times than not they'll let it through....Sometimes even if the lead-off man is a few pitches into his AB.
