LOS LANGELES LAKERS PLUS 3 OR 3 1/2 DEPENDING ON YOUR NUMBER OF OUTS...

THE LAKERS HAVE NOT PLAYED WELL, BUT THEY USUALLY PLAY THEIR VERY BEST UNDER ADVERSITY...

SHRINK, I don't get it....why bother to take the points? You've already guaranteed that the Lakers will win the title. So since we already know that they're going to win the game, why not take the ML +150 and win more? I'm very confused. Help me out there.

THE REASON YOU TAKE PLUS 3 POINTS VS. PLUS $1.50 ML IS CALLED VALUE, AND IT'S TAUGHT IN ANY GAMBLING 101 COURSE...

D2bets, -105 vs +150 is not that much. In a close game +3½ can be huge. Always take the points. I learned that in my Gambling 101 class.

Chuck,

How many teams have EVER won 3 consecutive Home Games since the NBA went to the 2-3-2 format?

00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Z E R O !!!

That's a pretty good average to have on my side, don't you think?

Not that much? For a dime player with a base wagering amount, you would win 1500 versus 1000. If you are speaking in term of losing, then you are correct, 1000 verse 1050.
Anyways, I agree always take the points.

Is this a history lesson? They used to play well under adversity. Just like they used to close people out every time. I do not think you can compare any Laker history to this team, well maybe with coach Rambis

Shrink, I know all about value but there's no value in the 3.5 points if we already know that LA is going to win SU, right? I mean, you've already guaranteed it -- I believe it was called a "100% mortal lock" -- or something to that effect.

As an aside, I disagree that it is *always* a better value to take the points. Specifically, I think the DET ML's in both Games 1 and 2 offered a better value than the spread. And as it played out a ML 1-1 split in those games returned nearly twice as much profit per risk as going 2-0 on the spread, and if DET had pulled out Game 2 it would have returned, ohhh, around 9X as much.

no team has ever won 3 in a row at home. correct.

but the 89-90 pistons were the first to win all 3 on the road against the trailblazers
