Call your Senators, call your Rerpresentatives and call the following Committee Chairs and ranking democrats:

Senator Susan Collins of Maine
Rep. Peter King of NY

Senator Joe Lieberman of CT
Rep. Jane Harmon of CA

(202) 224-3121

Tell them not to add non-germane legislation to the Port Security bill, in particular the anti-internet gambling legislation.

The ports bill was still being drafted early Friday, but aides said it may include a court security bill championed by House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., and legislation to limit Internet gambling.
Here is the number for the conference committee where the Port Security bill is being discussed as we speak (202) 224-4751.

The aide I spoke to said he would pass along my message to the committee members. He also advised that I call Senator Frist's office because "he is pushing this thing hard today."

Apparently, Frist is convinced that his political future depends on his ability to appease the Family Research Council and other conservative Christian groups prior to the elections. He pissed them off when he changed his stance on the embryonic stem cell issue.

So this is really going to pass then and come January 1st of next year all offshore books will become non-existant in dealing with United States customers?

I'm looking at the family research council's website now.

This is scary stuff. (And Frist has his name all over the place on here.)

Just check out this quote from a few days ago...

"The homosexual agenda in schools, illegal immigration, defunding the ACLU, underage girls being taken across state lines for abortions, state marriage amendments, human cloning, and Internet gambling. These are just a few challenges that, together, we must meet head on."

Oh, I forgot to add that every few lines they ask for a donation so they can have the money to fight off evils like "the homosexual agenda" and...LOL..."defend our freedoms"

OK, one more...

This is their "prayer target" for this issue...

"Internet Gambling Prohibition Act - Passed by the House before the August recess, the legislation needs passage in the Senate. It prohibits gambling transaction transfers from U.S. Banks overseas. It also holds Internet Service Providers (ISPs) responsible to monitor their customers' illegal gambling activities. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) is opposing efforts to attach the gambling measure as a rider to other legislation.

* May the Senate take action to pass this bill to help end the destructive addiction this evil industry is producing across America, including among millions of teenagers (Pr 1:11)."

Yes, and you will no longer be able to buy drugs, you will no longer be able to hire a hooker, streets will magically have big spikes that stab you if you jaywalk, and god forbid you take a leak outside....

Well, I can prey to God just as well as they can, and so can you:

Almighty and most merciful Father, we humbly beseech Thee, of Thy great goodness, to restrain these idiots in Congress with which we have had to contend. Grant us fair weather for Battle. Graciously hearken to us as gamblers who call upon Thee that, armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies and establish Thy justice among men and nations and forever more may Internet gambling be allowed to those who wish to participate.

If this thing passes I will certainly be interested in hearing from all of the confident people on this forum who claim this is unenforceable. I will be very anxious to hear what "workarounds" will ultimately be successful.

Id imagine lots of withdrawls from books would follow before it became law they said in the 60 minutes story 80% of offshore business is from the USA.

Won't be a pretty picture if it passes but the local bookies business might pick up.

Pick back up? If you could buy stock in locals it would go through the roof.

Those guys are still around and there will be a TON of new guys to start taking bets if this bill passes. Their business has gotten pounded with the advent of offshore gaming..........The locals have to be praying for this bill! Hell, I betcha a bunch of Frist's boys are bookies...LOL!
