Tonight was the first time I had the chance to watch Lincecum (other than highlights) versus the Brewers. I was not impressed. No control. Strange delivery. And he was in way too much of a rush. I realize that tempo and odd deliveries can be an advantage for some pitchers, but this kid looked really rattled out there. He just could not locate any of his pitches and the Brew Crew jumped on him early (6 runs in the first 2 innings).
I certainly have not seen enough of Gallardo yet to form too strong of an opinion, but after he settled down last night, he looked great for a debut performance. Poised. Relaxed. It certainly didn't look like it was his first start in the bigs. He located his fastball early and saved the change-up for later innings. He had a good game plan and really worked it well. If this is a hint of what is yet to come, I think the Brew Crew staff will be in great hands with him and Sheets as a #1 and #2 combo.
(BTW Sheets looked incredible tonight! He went the distance tonight, pitching all 9 innings. What a work horse!)
Just my 2 cents :toast:
