On Sunday, in a 2-0 loss to the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees Captain Derek Jeter went hitless in four at bats (striking out three times). The loss was the Yankees fourth in a row and their ninth loss in their last fourteen games. For Jeter, the hitless day added to a streak where he has now gone 25 straight at bats without a hit (a career high). For the season (to date) Jeter is hitting .175 and has 15 strikeouts in 80 at bats.

Clearly, these are difficult times for the New York Yankees and their on the field leader. In fact, it is not a reach to say that the first 19 games of the 2004 season just may be the most troubled stretch ever experienced by both Jeter and the Yankees, simultaneously.

I think Jeter's a little bitch that deserves to be booed all the time. Nothing more satisfying than seeing him play such horrible ball. For some reason he is one player I can't stand.

If I was a yankee fan and he went 0 for his last 25 at bats hell yeah I would boo his ass with all the fvcken millions he makes. If this keeps up don't be surprised if they trade his sorry ass for someone else.

Derek Jeter is the only guy on that team that steps up in big games. I hate the Yankees but I actually like Jeter.

It is funny every year to watch a guy like Tejada put up huge numbers every year and go 1-90 in the playoffs and then watch Jeter go out and bat .500 and make every play asked of him.

I'd boo that pansie Giambi for actually sitting out game 5 of the World Series, and then after they get AROD he says "we have a great shot to win it all" You had your shot last year you Roid headed dummy!
Id also boo Joe Torre for thinking that he is a good manager and for actually bringing in jeff Weaver in a tie game 4 instead of Rivera . (My Marlins wagers didn't mind but...)

Torre much like Casey Stengel is one of the most overated mangers of all time.

You gotta give Jeter credit though. He said that he deserves the boos based on his and others, performances. Booing is part of the game and shows that fans care.

Yankees "fans" are the biggest bunch of spoiled louts in sports. They forget that they haven't won anything in 3 years, and when the team sucked (or wasn't winning titles) in the late 80's they were nowhere to be found at the stadium.
Already they are calling the sportsradio here saying "hey maybe we can get Vidro or Odalis Perez or Kris Benson or.........."
Hope Oaklands big 3 sweeps em.

8-28-09:

jeter hit a 1-2 pitch from buehrle over the wall in left-center for his 22nd career leadoff homer and first since sunday’s 8-4 win at boston. It was his 17th homer this season and career no. 223, passing don mattingly for 10th on the club’s list.

...and a milestone should be reached this year...

Derek Jeter needs 17 hits to hold the top record of hits with the New York Yankees (2722) He will have bumped some guy who wore #4.

Jeter will be in the HOF, but is really as great as he is made out to be or is he partially a product of playing in Pinstripes?

No, He's the Product of the Yankees Farm System :103631605

Phil Nevin
Paul Shuey
BJ Wallace
Jeffery Hammonds
Chad Mottola

These are the players chosen ahead of Jeter in the 1992 draft. Hal Newhouser recommended that Houston draft Jeter 1st, took Nevin instead since he was easier to sign.
